Ryan Gosling happens to be one of the biggest names in Hollywood. The actor is known for his incredible talent and has delivered some of the masterpieces in his career span while giving us cinema goals. Today, we bring you a throwback to the time when Ryan opened up on filming s*x scenes opposite Michelle Williams in ‘Blue Valentine’ which was released in 2010 and how it felt real shooting them. Scroll below to read the scoop.

The film was initially rated NC-17 and after protests was changed to R rated. In one of the scenes, Ryan goes down on Michelle and it becomes one of the biggest controversies. Talking about it, the actor had revealed that people got sensitive about it because it felt authentic to them.

Talking to UK’s Guardian, Ryan Gosling said, “The s*x felt real – it wasn’t sexy or ‘a s*x scene’, and that’s why we got into trouble. You shouldn’t be penalized for doing a good job.” Well, we hear you Ryan!

Not just Ryan Gosling but also his co-star Michelle Williams reacted to her oral s*x scene with the actor in ‘Blue Valentine’ in an interview with Reuters and said, “I thought, ‘I’ve never seen that before in a movie and I’m proud to be the first. Good on us for making that happen. As the woman in the situation that was in question, I found absolutely nothing scandalous, tawdry or disgusting about it.”

While there were rumours of Ryan and Michelle dating, the actor subtly dismissed it but gave a major hint to his fans in an interview with ABC News Nightline and said, “Most movies when you’re acting you’re trying to block out the lights and the trailers. Here, you had to remind yourself you were making a film. Michelle and I found it hard to take off our wedding bands when it was over. We’d built this castle and then had to tear it down.”

What are your thoughts on Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams talking about their s*x scene from Blue Valentine back in the day? Tell us in the space below.

Bob Nalbandian Dies: Director, Producer And Journalist On Heavy Metal Scene Was 58 - Deadline

Bob Nalbandian, whose journalism and film career chronicled the ups and downs of the heavy metal scene in print, film and online, died Friday, December 30 in Redding, California at age 58.

Nalbandian was recently diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma, an aggressive, rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, according to a cousin.

Nalbandian began his career in his teen years as the publisher/editor in chief of the heavy metal fanzine The Headbanger in April of 1982. The ‘zine achieved national distribution and was among the first publications to profile the then-unsigned bands Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Armored Saint.

He became a regular contributor to music magazines covering the rising metal scene in California, then parlayed that into a stint working in publicity and promotion for Roadrunner Records, where he handled the efforts backing Sepultura and Type O Negative. He moved on from there to the Rhino/WEA distributed Bizarre/Straight Records.

Nalbandian became the manager for the Orange County, Calif. metal band Eden, getting them signed to a worldwide deal with Enigma/Restless Records. He was also credited with landing Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman a gig with that band.

Using his outgoing personality and networking skills, Nalbandian also sealed license deals with major international companies such as Century Media (U.S. and Europe),Roadrunner Japan, Cherry Red/Hear No Evil/Universal Music (Europe),JVC/Victor (Japan),Music For Nations (U.K.),Bandai/Apollon (Japan),Polystar (Japan) and High Vaultage/Metal 4 Muthas (Germany).

He was an early online editor and podcaster at Hardradio.com, moving on to The Shockwaves Skull Sessions podcast, which he owned and produced.

Nalbandian segued into writing, producing and directing a series of documentaries chronicling the heavy metal scene with his Inside Metal series. The first video came out in 2014 detailing the pioneers of L.A. hard rock and heavy metal. Nalbandian directed eight videos in the series, which were widely praised for their accuracy in capturing a moment in music history.

News of Nalbandian’s death spread quickly throughout the music and metal community.

Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine called Nalbandian “a music legend.”

“We will miss you terribly, Bob. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson also paid tribute. “With deep shock and sadness, we here offer our condolences for our friend Bob Nalbandian who passed today. Bob was one of the first metal historian journalists I met when I moved to LA in 1983. A true friend, fan, supporter and lover of all things heavy metal, he did so much for our community and will be deeply missed.”

No information on survivors or memorial plans was immediately available.

From 'Avatar' to 'Everything Everywhere All at Once': The scene-stealers of 2022 - CNN

CNN  —

As 2022 comes to an end, there is much to look back and reflect on, including those moments in film and television when an actor gave us pause, wowed us or downright destroyed us. Those moments and performances, stick with us long after the story ends, oftentimes registering on a deeply personal level.

Here are just some of the standout scene-stealers from this year:

Sigourney Weaver in “Avatar: The Way of Water”

Kiri, voiced by Sigourney Weaver, in 'Avatar: The Way of Water.'

Weaver is an iconic actress who has worked with James Cameron to deliver incredibly successful results a number of times. But it was still a bit of a surprise to hear she would be appearing in the “Avatar” sequel, considering the demise of her character Dr. Grace Augustine in 2009’s franchise-launching “Avatar.” But true to form, the actress and her “Aliens” director did not disappoint here, creating Weaver’s character Kiri in the new film, a 14-year-old who bears an uncanny resemblance to Dr. Augustine but is still all her own. Kiri is one of the most mysterious and fascinating aspects of “Avatar: The Way of Water,” and much of that has to do with Weaver’s voice performance – which she’s said required her to draw on her own experience as a teenager.

Stephanie Hsu in “Everything Everywhere All at Once”

Stephanie Hsu in 'Everything Everywhere All At Once.'

While most of the other performers in this groundbreaking film from A24 have received heaps of accolades – and with good reason – Hsu’s portrayal of the queer daughter of Asian immigrants struggling with the weight of coming out to her mother is the totally vulnerable, heartbreaking core of the movie, helping the spiraling narrative move forward. Hsu’s fierce performance catches you off guard, bringing the stormy insanity of “Everything Everywhere” back to Earth for a frank, dramatic scene in a parking lot toward the end that, although somewhat small, becomes the linchpin of the whole thing.

Sabrina Impacciatore in “The White Lotus”

Sabrina Impacciatore, left, in 'The White Lotus.'

As Valentina, the demanding and unapologetic manager of the White Lotus in Sicily, Impacciatore had the task of providing most of the local color in the earlier episodes of the second season of this buzzy HBO series. But when Mia (Beatrice GrannĂČ) casually asks Valentina mid-season if she’s gay, right there at the hotel’s reception, Impacciatore’s reaction could serve as a master class in scene study. It’s a virtuoso bit of acting that tells a lifetime of repression and curiosity through a series of flickering facial expressions. (“White Lotus” is from HBO, which, like CNN, is part of Warner Bros. Discovery.)

Evan Rachel Wood in “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story”

(L-R) Daniel Radcliffe and Evan Rachel Wood in 'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.'

While many were speculating about who would clinch the role of Madonna in her upcoming biopic (that honor has been extended to Julia Garner from “Ozark”), Wood went ahead and did her own madcap version of the Material Girl for this zany Roku movie opposite Daniel Radcliffe, which sets aside factual correctness in order to go full throttle on the satire. In spite of all the silliness, there is something just right about Wood’s portrayal, giving fans something else to watch other than reruns of the now-canceled “Westworld.”

Antony Starr in “The Boys”

Antony Starr in 'The Boys.'

Starr’s portrayal of Homelander is one for the record books, repeatedly raising the terrifying question of what might happen if Superman were an amoral psychopath masquerading as a hero in Amazon’s dark superhero satire. That felt especially true in this year’s Season 3, which saw the caped man-child experience a roller coaster of emotions.

Yvonne Strahovski in “The Handmaid’s Tale”

Yvonne Strahovski in 'The Handmaid's Tale.'

While many fans are (starting to) lose their patience with June’s (Elisabeth Moss) seemingly consequence-free shenanigans in this Hulu show’s fifth season, the seventh episode, titled “No Man’s Land,” was one of the best in the whole series, and that was thanks to Strahovski. While the circumstances surrounding her character Serena’s predicament in the episode are somewhat ridiculous – she chooses to shoot her supposed accomplice and facilitate an escape for her nemesis June – the resulting sequence of her giving birth in a barn with June’s help is nothing short of great television. Strahovski’s physical commitment to the part is matched only by her expressions once the tables turn and she becomes something of a handmaid herself.

15 Best Sex Scenes in Action Movies of All Time - Men's Health

When we think of action movies, our minds don't immediately go to sex. There is, however, a shared relationship. After all, both action movies and sex have plenty of physicality, and require a delicate dance of intimacy. That’s especially true on the sets of these movies, where it’s commonplace these days for an intimacy coordinator to make sure all parties involved are comfortable with the acts taking place.

In films with loud explosions and gun fights, sex scenes can also establish emotional stakes between characters and break up the set pieces. The latter is especially important, as some of these scenes are critical to the authenticity of the plot. Sure, there’s also an element of titillation in play, but more often than not, it's grounded to what’s happening on screen.

With all of this in mind, we rounded up 15 notable sex scenes across a handful of action movies for their (legitimate!) importance to the plot, and how memorable they are in the genre. From Crank: High Voltage to Skyfall, here’s our definitive list of the best sex scenes in action movie history.

Crank: High Voltage (2009)

In a just world, we’d have a handful of Crank movies, but my theory is that the sequel, Crank: High Voltage, features a sex scene so absurdly funny that it just couldn’t be topped, and therefore the Mark Neveldine- and Brain Taylor-written and directed franchise had to end. The crux of High Voltage is that Jason Statham’s Chev Chelios has to keep his artificial heart charged, or he’ll die. Around the midpoint of the film, Chev starts to lose power at a horse track and tells his girlfriend, Eve (Amy Smart), that he needs friction to cause a charge, leading her to dry hump him until the two fall off a balcony before rolling onto the track itself and going for it. The editing and sequencing of the whole thing are brilliant from start to finish (sorry).

WATCH IT

Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005)

While the whole of Mr. and Mrs. Smith is ostensibly foreplay for the then-impending Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie marriage, the actual sex scene in the film is a climactic explosion of passion. If you don’t remember the plot, Pitt and Jolie are married assassins—with a fledging sex life—who end up being tasked to take out one another after a botched hit. After the two engage in a shootout at their home in an attempt to take each other out, the two put aside their guns and reignite their relationship in an incredibly hot sequence. The scene becomes particularly loaded, considering how the two fell in love throughout the shoot. While the sex is fake, the love isn’t.

WATCH IT

The Terminator (1984)

James Cameron’s genre-defining action movie features a sex scene that’s key to the plot’s entire narrative. As Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) states, he’s traveled through time not only to protect Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) but to ensure the birth of John Connor himself—thus establishing the sequence as anything but gratuitous. It takes a much larger importance within the Terminator canon and provides Sarah with a brief moment of respite before she entirely devotes herself to destroying the machines.

WATCH IT

300 (2006)

Zack Snyder is a polarizing figure, but man does the visually-minded director shoot the hell out of a sex scene. In the preamble to the Battle of Thermopylae, Snyder posits Gerard Butler's Leonidas and Lena Headey’s Queen Gorgo in a brief but arresting sequence in a moment of bliss before a bloody battle. It’s fleeting but leaves an impact nonetheless, thanks to Snyder’s craftsmanship.

WATCH IT

Atomic Blonde (2017)

While the use of bisexual lighting dates back to the BBC’s Sherlock series, David Leitch’s Atomic Blonde is one of the films that helped popularize the lighting trend. The sex scene between MI6 spy Lorraine Broughton (Charlize Theron) and French agent Delphine Lasalle (Sofia Boutella) begins after a spirited moment inside a club (who amongst us hasn’t shared a kiss at a club?) drenched in the pink, purple, and blue lighting before turning into something more intimate. Theron stated the shared dancing background she had with Boutella made it easier for the two to make it “real and cool.” Consider that goal achieved.

WATCH IT

Out of Sight (1998)

We’re cheating slightly here with the inclusion of Steven Soderbergh’s masterful crime story. Still, the George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez film contains plenty of action when it comes to the romantic tension between the two leads. As two-star-crossed lovers—Clooney’s Jack Foley is a master thief, while Lopez’s Karen Sisco is the US Marshal tasked with capturing him—the two begin a cat-and-mouse chase that mirrors the way they circle around one another romantically. Sweetly tender and charming with picturesque snow falling in the background, it’s a wonderful example of just wanting to see two gorgeous people share a connection.

WATCH IT

Miami Vice (2006)

Like many of Michael Mann’s works this century, Miami Vice debuted with a chilly reception only to garner cult status in the intervening years after its release. The film’s plot hinges on the doomed love affair between undercover detective Crockett (Colin Farrell) and cartel financial adviser Isabella (Gong Li), which kicks off on a speedboat trip to Cuba for delicious (and much meme’d mojitos). Scored to Audioslave’s “Wide Awake,” the sex scene between the two heightens the personal stakes of the film, adding another level of danger to the already-fraught proceedings. Many of Mann’s leads are troubled men seeking redemption from the women they love, but Vice might be one of the director’s best executions of the theme.

WATCH IT

True Romance (1993)

The true romance of True Romance starts as many relationships often do: with one incredible evening meeting between two star-crossed lovers. In this case, Alabama (Patricia Arquette) and Clarence (Christian Slater) meet at a showing of a kung fu film—albeit Alabama later reveals she’s a hired call girl there to make Clarence’s birthday particularly memorable. But that doesn’t change the affection the two have for one another, as seen in the incredibly passionate sequence that ends with a critical act—a shared bit of hand-holding that feels far more intimate than the sex they just had.

WATCH IT

Enemy at the Gates (2001)

For some, there’s added excitement to having sex where you shouldn’t. So when Vasily Zaitsev (Jude Law) and Tania Chernova (Rachel Weisz) steal a moment for themselves in the middle of the German invasion of Stalingrad, the scene takes on an extra element of sexiness. It’s a great example of the sexual liberation that happened amongst people who were marching towards their death—a chance to find a fleeting bit of pleasure in an otherwise perilous situation. How’s that for some foreplay?

WATCH IT

Troy (2004)

The second entry for Brad Pitt finds the actor at his most ripped as he fights off a knife blade from Rose Byrne’s Briseis before the two fall into gyrations together. That’s also to say nothing of the moment between Diane Kruger’s Helen of Troy and Orlando Bloom’s Paris. Everyone looks fantastic in this, which almost makes up for how lackluster the film around them ends up being.

WATCH IT

The Matrix Reloaded (2003)

For many millennials, there’s a strong possibility that Neo and Trinity shacking during a cave rave for the ages in 2003’s The Matrix Reloaded is one of the very first cinematic sex scenes they ever witnessed. The way that Lana and Lilly Wachowski intercut the intensity of the rave with the intimacy of Neo and Trinity makes for quite a contrasting approach, helping to heighten aspects of both the bacchanal revelries. The moment is tasteful and extraordinarily sultry, showing that you don’t need a lot of skin to make a lasting impact.

WATCH IT

Sin City (2005)

Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez's adaptation of Sin City blends neo-noir and action with an incredibly stylized look and feel that’s the closest we’ve gotten to translating the ink and pen feel of actual comic book art to the screen. It also allowed the two to play with lighting in clever and engaging ways, like during Marv (Mickey Rourke) and Goldie’s (Jaime King) sex scene, where the latter is bathed in heavenly light as the former narrates the transcendent experience he had with her. It’s a visually arresting sequence in a film chock-full of them.

WATCH IT

Underworld: Evolution (2006)

Despite not having a sex scene in the first Underworld movie, the sequel, Underworld: Evolution, features a steamy moment between leads Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman, which doesn’t leave much to the imagination. This scene is particularly notable because Beckinsale was dating Evolution director Len Wiseman at the time, making for what I imagine was an, uh, interesting day at the office. Good scene, though!

WATCH IT

The Bourne Identity (2002)

While the famous “haircut scene” in The Bourne Identity isn’t a sex scene, it might as well be one, as the sexual chemistry between Matt Damon and Franka Potente is staggering. Director Doug Liman shoots the scene with intense intimacy, allowing Damon and Potente to lean into a kind of rawness that even the most visceral sex scenes don’t have. We don’t see the two do the act, and we don’t need to—the shared glances and tight framing say more than anything else could.

WATCH IT

Skyfall (2012)

The sex scenes of the Daniel Craig-era Bond films are a little more reserved than some previous installments. Still, the one between Bond and SĂ©vĂ©rine in Skyfall is memorable for its staging through the lens of iconic cinematographer Roger Deakins. The steamy shower sex is wonderfully backlit as the two embrace. My favorite little detail, though, is how the door to the room is left open just to the left of the frame, and how Bond’s hand reaches into the frame to close it before entering. It feels a bit like turning the page, which is fitting, considering these are the moments of the film before Javier Bardem’s memorable Silva explodes onto the screen.

Tom Hanks Paid For Iconic Forrest Gump Scene Himself to Ensure It Wouldn't Get Cut - Startefacts

Tom Hanks revealed that the crew of Forrest Gump, which won an Oscar, had a lot of challenges while filming. As a result, one of the most memorable scenes almost didn't make it into the movie.

Tom Hanks shared a behind-the-scenes story about the making of the classic film Forrest Gump in an interview with In Depth with Graham Bensinger.

According to Hanks, Paramount Film Company initially refused to pay for the shooting of the iconic scene in which Gump becomes a national legend while humbly running across the United States. The studio cited the high cost as the reason for their refusal, but Hanks and the director, Robert Zemeckis, were determined to include the scene in the movie.

In fact, they were so committed to including it in the film that they agreed to personally finance the scene in exchange for a percentage of the profits from the theatrical release (somewhat standard practice nowadays for big name actors like Tom Cruise or Robert Downey Jr.)

Hanks recalled that "The studio said: 'We can't afford it, so don't shoot that scene,'" but the director said the scene was too important a part of the movie to just cut it. Zemeckis suggested that he and Hanks were going to split the cost of filming the scene and pay for it themselves.

Hanks added that they had agreed with Paramount that for this movie, the studio would increase their percentage from the rental – it turned out that they earned even more than they spent.

Fortunately, their gamble paid off. Forrest Gump ended up earning $683 million at the box office and Hanks himself earned about $65 million from the film. The movie also won six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Director. It's clear that this iconic scene played a major role in the success of the film and will continue to be remembered as a classic moment in cinematic history.

Top Gun: Maverick Releases 3-Hour Loop of Shirtless Beach Football Scene for the Holidays - PEOPLE

Top Gun: Maverick's fun in the sun just got even steamier.

Paramount+ has released a three-hour looping cut of the beach-football scene from the hit film, which features Miles Teller, Glen Powell, Greg Tarzan Davis and more running around shirtless while tossing a ball.

The scene in the movie, released earlier this year, sees Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Tom Cruise) tap into his own past experience bonding with his fellow recruits, and leverage the memory to insist his present-day trainees — including those played by Teller, 35, Powell, 34, Davis, 29, Jay Ellis, Monica Barbaro and Lewis Pullman — use a similar technique.

"Some folks might prefer staring at a crackling fire for their yuletide celebrations, but if you're the type who feels the need for speed, a loop of Top Gun: Maverick's sweaty beach football scene might be the holiday joy you're looking for," reads a hilarious description on the video.

Jennifer Connelly and Jon Hamm also star, while Val Kilmer reprises his role as Tom "Iceman" Kazansky from the original 1986 film.

Top Gun: Maverick set a Memorial Day box-office record over its opening weekend in May.

Celebrating the win, Cruise, 60, wrote on Twitter at the time, "Thank you to everyone who saw #TopGun: Maverick and helped make it a historic opening weekend."

In May, producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Deadline of Top Gun: Maverick's success, "We make films for all audiences. Top Gun is for everybody; it's all about the story and the characters and the ride we take them on. I don't care where you see this movie. You see it with packed audiences; it's playing all over the world."

"Watching the movie over the last few nights with an audience, people are really happy walking out of the theater," he added.

The sequel — which was long-delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic before hitting cinemas in May and earned close to $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office — returned to select theaters and IMAX screens earlier this month for a two-week stint, ending Dec. 15.

Top Gun: Maverick is now streaming on Paramount+.

Jake Gyllenhaal Explains Why It Was ‘Awkward’ Filming Sex Scenes with Jennifer Aniston - Yahoo Entertainment

Unpleasant memories? Jake Gyllenhaal opened up about what it was like to film sex scenes with Jennifer Aniston.

"It was torture, yes it was, but it was also not torture. I mean, come on. It was like a mix of both," Jake, 42, joked while recalling what it was like to film the intimate scenes for their 2002 film The Good Girl while appearing on Monday, December 26, episode of SiriuxXM’s The Howard Stern Show.

Jennifer, 53, starred in the film as an unhappily married grocery store employee who begins an affair with her younger coworker, who was portrayed by Jake.

Jake explained that he had a crush on Jennifer, which made filming the sex scenes particularly embarrassing. "Weirdly, love scenes are awkward because there are maybe 30, 50 people watching,” he said. “That doesn't turn me on."

"Most of the time, it's oddly mechanical, right?” the Ambulance actor continued. “And also, it's a dance, like, you choreograph it for a camera. It's one of those like a fight scene, you gotta choreograph those things and I always have tried."

Jake then explained one suggestion Jennifer made to help them feel more comfortable while filming the bedroom scenes. "That was just pre-emptive and used generally always when actually in a horizontal place in that movie,” he told Howard Stern, 68. “I think that was actually a Jennifer suggestion, she was very kind to suggest it before we began.”

The Donnie Darko actor added, "She was like, 'I'm putting a pillow here.’”

Also during the interview, Jake spoke about his future plans with his girlfriend, Jeanne Cadieu, and revealed if he hopes to become a father.

The California native said he hopes to one day "be a good husband and a father.

“Now that I have fulfilled a lot of things in my career that I feel comfortable with, I can safely say that,” he said of his plans for the future. “I don't know if I could have said that before.”

Despite dating Jeanne, 26, since 2018, Jake has remained relatively private about his love life and has chosen to keep their romance out of the spotlight.

In February 2022, Jake made a rare comment about their relationship while speaking to Esquire.

"In a lot of ways, we're family," the Nightcrawler actor said at the time. "I'm in a relationship that is full of love and support. I feel so at ease."

The Shawshank Redemption's 'Simplest' Scene Convinced Frank Darabont That The Film Would Work - /Film

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of "Shawshank" in 2019, Deadline interviewed Frank Darabont, who recalled his memories of making the film during the summer of 1993. When he was asked about which scene encapsulated the spirit of the shoot, it was the scene in which Andy Dufrense (Tim Robbins) and Red (Morgan Freeman) are sitting against the wall talking about a potential life outside of the prison. "It's just this five- or six-minute dialogue sequence between these two friends. It was just such a pleasure to shoot that," said Darabont.

The scene comes after a dire tipping point in Andy's life, where Warden Norton (Bob Gunton) has nipped any chance of him seeing the outside of a cell in the bud. Andy dreams of operating a small hotel on the beautiful shores of Zihuatanejo, Mexico, and he makes a crucial decision in his discussion with Red that will impact the arc of the movie. Darabont explained to Deadline that he knew Robbins and Freeman would be able to carry the emotion of this scene without his input:

"I remember sitting on my apple box and just, you know, letting that moment wash over me because both of them were just so damn good. I sat there and I thought, 'Okay, I think we have the movie.' This is the key scene of the film, really, where all the truth is out between them. It's just the honesty and the friendship that's flowing between them."

Darabont may have disappeared from the world of filmmaking, but the work he's shared with us has lasted for a reason. "Shawshank" is built on the emotions of people beholden to a broken system, and in the process, turns us into radical empathizers.

"The Shawshank Redemption" is currently streaming on HBO Max.

This Rhode Island man's home nativity scene has over 400 pieces - New York Post

This little town of Bethlehem got very big.

A Rhode Island man assembled a nativity scene outside his Providence home with more than 400 pieces.

Eugenio “Geno” Milano, 80, an Italian native, began the labor of love in 1975, maintaining his dad’s Christmas custom, according to WJAR-TV.

“All of this tradition was left to me by my father, and I remember when my father was doing it when I was four years old,” Milano told the outlet.

The elaborate display started indoors.

“Growing up, we never had a Christmas tree in our house, we always had this Nativity scene,” said Cinzia Pereira, Milano’s daughter.

As it grew, however, it started to leave little room for the family.

“We fight, me and my wife, but that’s OK ’cause she likes it, but she says, ‘You take every room in the house. Where do we eat tonight?'” Milano explained.
