
SANGAMON COUNTY, Ill. (WGEM) — A plane has crashed near the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport in Sangamon County, Illinois, according to NBC News affiliate WAND.
WAND reported around 4:50 a.m. that the coroner was on the scene.
WAND stated that air traffic controllers at the airport notified authorities around 3:09 p.m. that an aircraft had crashed about seven miles southeast of the airport.
The Springfield Journal is reporting the plane crashed near White Timber Road, which is near the Springfield-Rochester border
WAND stated that the plane was coming to Springfield from Hunstville, Alabama. It is unknown at this time what kind of plane it is or how many people are on board.
