Since the Coronavirus took center stage, Between the Lines Studio Theatre in Allentown was forced to end scene.
"Everything that we needed, we had to stop," said Rachel Williams, Co-Owner of Between the Lines.
The 501c3 nonprofit was slated to offer acting classes, poetry nights and improv. As it turns out, there'd be no opening act.
"We had initially planned to open at the end of March that was going to be the first show that was done here," said Williams.
She's a Lehigh Valley native and actress herself. Williams and a partner thought opening a place for people to express was the stage that was set for them. With no money coming in, fundraisers to host or any real need for the space, it's not exactly the intermission they'd planned. However, they know they're not alone.
"And that's happening a lot in the arts especially theater in the Lehigh Valley."
They've started asking for donations. So far, they've raised $400. Some of the actors have even offered up their skills. For ever person who can prove they donated, can request an actor perform a monologue of their choice. The actors will post it to their social media accounts.
"If you give somebody something, they're going to be a lot more willing to donate," said Michael Kuhns, an actor at the theatre.
When the curtain closes on the Coronavirus, no ovation please. This theatre is ready for it's callback.
"I hope that everyone remembers that, when we come out of this that the arts were here for us and we're still here and we'd really love for you to come back," said Williams.
