The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in identifying the driver of a maroon Ford F-150 who fled a crash that left five people injured.
The incident took place at approximately 4:47 p.m. Friday in Midway Township. While waiting to turn from Midway Road onto Stark Road, a Subaru car occupied by four family members was hit by the truck and pushed into oncoming traffic, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. The oncoming vehicle was a truck pulling a trailer. Both the Subaru and the oncoming truck ended up in the ditch off Midway Road.
The suspect fled north on Midway Road, the release reads. Five people were hospitalized with various injuries, including broken teeth, collarbones, pelvis and nose as well as internal bleeding. One victim is still hospitalized in critical condition. Everyone else has been or was expected to be released Saturday.
Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect's vehicle should call 911 or the sheriff's office.
Local surveillance footage showed that the suspect's vehicle had a cover over the back of the pickup truck, wheels with grey or silver spokes and front-end damage to the vehicle. At the scene of the crash, a "unique" emblem that says "Ford" was found. The emblem, from the grille of the truck, was painted black.
