Police are trying to figure out what sparked a deadly fire in Williams Township, Northampton County on Saturday.
It broke out just after 11:30 a.m. at the corner of Raubsville Road and Route 611.
The woman who lived at the home, 73-year-old Alice Groner, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have yet to make a determination on the cause and manner of the woman's death, although the coroner said it appears to be related to the fire.
“It was a little bit hectic in our quiet little town,” said Colleen Carlbon. She lives nearby to the home which caught on fire, and knew the women who lived inside.
“She was quiet,” said Carlbon.
Russell Moser used to own a general store down the street from the home, and said the woman who died was a friend.
“She came into the store all the time,” he said. “It’s very sad.”
State police say they need more time to determine the cause of the fire.
