COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Cole County Sheriff's Department have cleared the scene after responding to a barricaded subject early Wednesday.

Sheriff John Wheeler tweeted around 2 a.m. that the department was in the 4900 block of Westport Dr. with the crisis negotiation team and SWAT.

We are out in the 4900 block of Westport Drive with a barricaded subject. Our Crisis Negotiation Team, as well as ,SWAT is on scene. More information will follow.

Around 4:45 Wednesday morning, Wheeler tweeted that the scene was clear and one person was in custody.

We are clear from Westport Drive. One in custody and a 357 handgun seized. Subject was transported for a fit for confinement and will be taken for a 96 hour mental commitment later this morning.
