Detectives in Burbank are scouring over the scene of a triple shooting at a home that killed two men and critically injured a woman, officials said Tuesday.
Police still aren’t sure yet whether the shooter is among those shot. A handgun was found outside the home.
“Detectives have just started working the scene after a search warrant was issued,” said Sgt. Derek Green, a Burbank Police Department spokesman, in an email. “Too early to determine.”
Officers arrived at the home in the 900 block of Cambridge Drive at around 1:30 a.m. after a report of a single gun shot.
When they arrived, they found one man dead from a gunshot wound in the driveway of the home. Inside, they found a man and a woman shot in their bedroom.
The man was dead, but the woman was still alive. She was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries, according to a Burbank police press release.
Also inside the home were three children — none were hurt, and all were taken to the Burbank Police station where “they are currently safe,” Green said by mid-morning Tuesday.
The man and woman found inside were believed to be a married couple. Green said detectives didn’t know yet what connection, if any, the man in the driveway had to the couple.
“Detectives are on scene — this is a very complex scene,” Green said in a press conference a few hours after the shooting.
“We are trying to, obviously, determine the circumstances that led up to this shooting, what the motive might have been and exactly what the association is of the people that are involved.”
Green said police didn’t think there were any shooters who had fled the location, though he cautioned that detectives were “not ruling that out.”
Police did not release the names of the people shot Tuesday.
