SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Local police and federal agents are investigating a crime scene in south Springfield.
Springfield Police Officers responded to a home at Maryland and Cherokee, near Mercy Hospital, late Monday afternoon, when someone reported hearing gunshots.
Neighbors told KY3 News off camera told me off camera they heard 3-5 gunshots coming from the home where police have been searching in the 1800 block of S. Maryland. One neighbor also said there was one person detained and put in a police vehicle.
One woman on the scene told KY3 News off camera that her son was shot and killed in the home. Authorities have not confirmed that information.
Authorities have not released any information about what the case involves or if anyone is hurt. So far, they have said this is an on-going investigation. A representative with the DEA says the agency is working with SPD on the investigation.
