Police catch up with hit-skip car speeding from scene, arrest two: Lyndhurst police blotter - cleveland.com

LYNDHURST, Ohio -- Hit-skip: Richmond Road

At 4:25 p.m. Dec. 19, police were called to the scene of a two-car crash at Richmond Road and Ridgebury Boulevard. It was learned that one of the cars, occupied by a male and female, had left the scene, speeding away, after only briefly speaking with the other car’s driver.

Police soon located the car that left the scene, speeding on Fairlawn and Professor roads. A traffic stop was eventually conducted on South Green Road in South Euclid. The two people in the car were ordered, at gunpoint, from the auto. Neither person had a valid ID.

It was learned that the female, 20, of Cleveland, was driving at the time of the crash. The male, 17, of Cleveland, then got in the driver’s seat and sped from the accident scene.

Police charged the woman with failure to maintain an assured clear distance and driving under suspension. The boy was charged with driving without a license, reckless operation, hit-skip and not wearing a seat belt.

Improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle: Lyndhurst Park

At 3:25 a.m. Dec. 21, police checked on two cars occupied by a total of six teens that were parked in Lyndhurst Park. Police detected the odor of marijuana coming from the cars and conducted searches of the vehicles. A gun was found in one of the cars, leading to a charge of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle against a Euclid man, 19.

A South Euclid woman, 19, was charged with drug abuse. Also in the cars, but not charged, were three men, all 19, of Euclid, South Euclid and Cleveland, and a Euclid woman, 19.

Theft: Richmond Road

At 7:10 a.m. Dec. 20, an employee of CVS/Pharmacy, 1443 Richmond Road, reported that two females left the store, each carrying a basket full of merchandise stolen from the store. The amount of the theft was not known. The suspects were not apprehended.

Suspicious person: Gordon Road

At 11:15 p.m. Dec. 19, a woman reported that an intoxicated man walked into her home. The woman’s son told police that he believed the man had been drinking at Ava’s Alley, 5415 Mayfield Road.

The mother and son called Uber to take the man to his home on West 154th Street in Cleveland. The man had departed before officers arrived.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 11:55 a.m. Dec. 18, a Shaker Heights woman, 27, reported that someone cut the lock and entered her locker at LA Fitness, 25145 Cedar Road. All of the locker’s contents were stolen, including cash, multiple credit cards, car and house keys, shoes, a swimsuit and leggings. The woman estimated that her belongings totaled $990.

Fraud: Cheltenham Boulevard

At 3:15 p.m. Dec. 15, a man, 91, reported that he was the victim of a scam that cost him $400. A popup appeared on his computer screen stating that his computer needed service. The man went on to supply the scammer with banking information.

Drug abuse: Mayfield Road

At 1:15 a.m. Dec. 15, an officer stopped a car that was being driven in the middle of the road without activated headlights. Police found marijuana in the car and learned that the driver, a South Euclid man, 19, had a suspended license. The man was cited for the two offenses and his car towed.
