Temporary changes for construction at Bagley Creek in place through 2021
PORT ANGELES - Big changes are ahead on US 101 over Bagley Creek near Port Angeles.
As soon as Thursday, Jan. 28, traffic using the westbound lanes will move to the new bridge over the creek. This shift will allow contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation space to continue construction work to open habitat for migratory fish species.
“This shift allows our crews to complete median work and other tasks, including construction of the new eastbound bridge over Bagley Creek,” said WSDOT Project Engineer Dan McKernan. “We appreciate the public’s patience as construction continues.”
Travelers will also notice a reduced speed limit and are encouraged to watch out for the crew members who are working on site.
Next steps
The following week, the eastbound lanes will also shift to the new structure. This temporary configuration will be in place until late this year.
This work is part of WSDOT’s Fish Barrier Removal Program, which identifies and removes barriers to fish caused by culverts under state highways.
Real time traveler information is available via the WSDOT mobile app and regional travel alerts webpage.
