BOULDER, Colo. (AP and WPTA21) —Boulder police have confirmed "multiple people" were killed during a shooting at King Soopers supermarket Monday afternoon.
During a press conference, representatives from the Boulder Police Department still had few details about what led to the shooting, but did say they had one person in custody.
They also confirmed one Boulder police officer was killed during the shooting.
ABC television affiliate KMGH’s helicopter filmed a shirtless man being taken from King Soopers supermarket in Boulder, Monday afternoon.
The man had what appeared to be blood on his arm and right leg and his hands were cuffed behind him as two officers escorted him away. He was taken away in an ambulance.
News coverage showed law enforcement vehicles and officers massing outside the store, including SWAT teams, and at least three helicopters on the roof.
Authorities over a loudspeaker said the building was surrounded and that “you need to surrender.”
Officers helped some people out of the store to safety.
Police said they would provide more information in a news conference Monday night.
