A Mashpee woman is facing charges after police say she left the scene of a car crash on Route 130 in Sandwich.
Police were called to the scene of the crash at 9:36 PM on Thursday last week.
Police said they found a red Jeep crashed into a large pine tree near the Mashpee town line. The vehicle had sustained heavy front end damage and the airbags were deployed, but the operator was gone.
Police determined that the owner of the vehicle was a Mashpee resident and Mashpee police attempted to contact her. Three days later, they were able to reach her by phone.
The 33-year-old woman told police that she had crashed around 7 PM but was confused about the incident, which is why she did not contact police. Instead, she had called a friend to pick her up.
As a result of the incident, the woman will be summoned to court on charges of leaving the scene of property damage and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
