Woman returns to scene of mall crime, is arrested: Beachwood police blotter - cleveland.com

BEACHWOOD, Ohio -- Theft: Cedar Road

At 3:25 p.m. April 9, a woman stole Prada eyeglasses valued at $595 from Ashcroft & Oak at Beachwood Place mall, 26300 Cedar Road. The woman’s image was captured on video and when she returned to the store the following day, she was arrested for theft. Charged was a Cleveland woman, 32.

OVI: George Zeiger Drive

At 12:40 a.m. April 9, an officer stopped a car after its driver committed a turn signal violation. It was then discovered that the driver, a Cleveland woman, 38, was intoxicated. In the car was the woman’s daughter, 14.

Police charged the woman with OVI, having a blood-alcohol content greater than .08, driving without a license, and child endangering. She was also cited for failure to signal before turning.

Receiving stolen property: Cedar Road

At 2:40 p.m. April 9, a man recognized as the subject of two Beachwood police warrants and as having been banned from Beachwood Place, got out of a car in the mall lot. The man, 43, of Cleveland, was wanted for theft offenses. Police arrested the man in the mall lot.

Meanwhile, driving the car from which the man emerged was a Euclid man, 22. Police determined that the car had been stolen from Avon Lake. The Euclid man was arrested on a felony charge of receiving stolen property.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 4:10 p.m. April 10, police recognized as a theft suspect a woman who got out of a car in the Beachwood Place lot. The woman, 32, of Cleveland, was wanted for thefts that occurred on April 6 and 7. The woman was arrested for theft.

Theft from auto: Chagrin Boulevard

At 12:15 p.m. April 11, a Parma Heights woman, 60, reported that someone smashed the front window of her car and stole from the vehicle her wallet. The woman was at work at the time at a gas station.

OVI: Richmond Road

At 11:10 p.m. April 11, police investigated a two-car crash that took place at Richmond and Cedar roads. One of the drivers, a Mayfield Heights woman, 35, was found to be intoxicated. The woman was also found to be wanted on a Rocky River police warrant.

The woman was arrested on the warrant and charged with OVI, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and failure to maintain an assured clear distance.

Domestic violence: Eaton Boulevard

At 12:40 a.m. April 12, the manager of Aloft Hotel, 1010 Eaton Blvd., called police to report a domestic altercation involving a man and woman taking place in a room. The manager learned of the incident when the man in the room called to report the altercation.

Police investigated and ended up arresting the man, 43, of Euclid, for assaulting his live-in girlfriend, 41. Police charged the man with domestic violence.

Suspicion: Cedar Road

At 7:40 p.m. April 12, an employee of Zale’s, 26300 Cedar Road, reported jewelry totaling $8,128 missing from the store’s inventory. It was not certain whether the jewelry was stolen or misplaced.
