Nintendo Switch Pro Dock Is Bigger & Has an Ethernet Port, Says Rumor - Screen Rant

blogjewishscene.blogspot.com

A new rumor about the supposed Nintendo Switch Pro has revealed details about its dock, which will be bigger and have a built-in Ethernet port. The current Nintendo Switch dock is vital for its function as a hybrid system, yet there's no denying that it lacks features.

The current dock has two USB 2.0 slots in the front, a USB 3.0 slot in the back, and an HDMI port. The Nintendo Switch cannot use an external hard drive, as it requires a MicroSD for digital downloads, but the USB slots can be used for things like Bluetooth adapters. The Nintendo Switch dock doesn't have an Ethernet port, but there are third-party adapters available on the market, which connect to the system through the USB ports.

There are a lot of rumors circulating about an upgraded version of the Nintendo Switch, with some stating that it will be formally announced before E3 2021. This system has been informally referred to as the Nintendo Switch Pro by people online, as there is currently no official name. A new report by Vandal (translated by Wccftech) claims that the dock for the Nintendo Switch Pro will also come with new features. These include two USB 3.0 ports, and an Ethernet port.

The Ethernet port in particular is an exciting prospect for fans who have been disappointed by the Switch's online capabilities. The report also claimed that the Nintendo Switch Pro will be released in November, which would put it into the 2021 holiday season. The console itself will allegedly be the same size as the base Switch, but with a slightly bigger screen, and the Micro SD slot will be in a new position.

Nintendo easily has the worst reputation of all of the console makers when it comes to the quality of its online multiplayer. This has only been made worse during the Nintendo Switch generation, as fans now have to pay for online gaming. Nintendo Switch Online is required to play online games, but the service is still as bad as it was when it was free. Games like Super Mario Maker 2 are almost unplayable online, which is particularly egregious because multiplayer was one of the big new features promoted before release. The addition of an Ethernet port in the Nintendo Switch Pro dock might be a sign that Nintendo is taking its online offerings more seriously, as it's way behind the competition in terms of multiplayer.
