Phillip Eugene Marlow - Port Townsend Leader

blogjewishscene.blogspot.com

Phillip “Bo” Eugene Marlow passed away on Jan. 12, 2021.

He was born on Oct. 7, 1972 in Port Angeles, Washington to Phillip and Mary Marlow. Phillip lived in Omak, Washington, Roseburg, Oregon, and Enumclaw, Washington before settling in Port Townsend in 1995.

In 1987, he met the love of his life, Ruthy Zink. They were married on Oct. 13, 1991, before moving to Port Townsend. It wasn’t long afterward that Phillip started working in construction for Hope Roofing. He also worked for many years for his mentor and friend Matt Wallace at Cherry Street Roofing. He also owned his own business, Customline Roofing, but eventually returned to work for Matt as an estimator at Hope Roofing. Phillip was a highly skilled roofer that cared a great deal for the quality of his work. He prided himself in constructing hand-nailed roofs. He believed in sinking each nail with the attention that would provide the highest quality construction.

In 2010, along with his wife and good friends Michael Martin and Jason Dempsey, Phillip’s love for classic cars led to the founding of local car club, Small Town Car Freaks. A devoted Ford man, he built hot rods and engines for many years and learned everything about restoring and modifying old cars from the ground up. His favorite annual event was the Rakers Car Club show, where he and his wife, Ruthy (owner of The Candle Store), ogled the beautiful classics and won awards of their own.

Phillip was also an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing drums and guitar and attending concerts as frequently as possible. He played drums in the Port Townsend band Willows Bones.

Phillip is survived by his mother Mary Wanner; step dad Gordon Wanner; two dogs, Lola and Jett; father, Phillip Marlow; aunt “Aunty” Sue Wanner; many half brothers and sisters, cousins; and numerous friends whom he considered “family.” He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth “Ruthy” Lina Marlow, who succumbed to cancer on Feb. 2, 2020.

A memorial for Phillip and Ruthy will be announced when COVID-19 restrictions for public gatherings are lifted.
