Witness describes Wynwood mass shooting as 'crazy scene' - WPLG Local 10

MIAMI, Fla. – Miami police say seven people were shot Friday night in an area of Wynwood. On Saturday afternoon, police confirmed 1 person is dead.

According to Miami Police, they responded to a ShotSpotter alert at 11:53 p.m. Friday in the area of Northwest 20th Street and Northwest 1st Court, which is on the border of the Miami neighborhoods of Wynwood and Overtown.

A witness who said he was driving by when he saw the commotion described it as a “crazy scene.” He told Local 10 News that he saw people, perhaps friends of one of the victims, carrying an injured person to a car, where they were put into the back seat and the car sped away.

Some people located at the scene were suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said others had already arrived on their own to area hospitals. One was at University of Miami Hospital while 6 people were at Jackson Memorial Hospital, police said.

The scene remained active throughout Saturday. K-9 units were searching for clues amid a perimeter set up around the scene where more than three dozen evidence markers placed next to shell casings.

Police have not said if they have a suspect or anyone in custody who may be responsible for the shootings.
