Crime Scene Kitchen, Episode 2 Review: Meet The Competition - Guilty Eats

It’s officially week two of the new hit TV baking show called Crime Scene Kitchen. There is certainly no other show like it: it’s got elements of being a detective and delicious desserts. So with all of that being said, let’s dive right into the thick of it all!

If you enjoy Crime Scene Kitchen, then be sure to tune in each week, starting at 8 pm EST, where we will see some mysterious treats being made by some of America’s best bakers!

Are you ready? Let’s go!

Crime Scene Kitchen combines mystery and baking! Let’s see what’s in store!

In case you missed week one, here’s the premise of the show: each week there are two challenges. In both challenges, before the baking actually begins, each team has a chance to ‘investigate’ the kitchen. There are dirty dishes, used utensils, things in the fridge, and definitely some things to fool you (a few this week) and throw you off guard just a bit.

The winners of the first challenge will get one extra clue in the second challenge – huge advantage!

This week, we were met with six brand new teams of bakers and their baking partners! Next week, back onto group one! It’s actually kinda fun to be flipping back and forth! It’s like two seasons going on all at once; how fun!

In the second episode of Crime Scene Kitchen, the first challenge had the following clues:

  • Ricotta cheese leftover in a strained cheesecloth
  • Chocolate on ends of parchment paper – represented shape of mystery dessert
  • Powdered sugar on the counter (all over)
  • Mini chocolate chips on the counter
  • Piping bag
  • Rolling pin
  • Greasy pot on the stove – represented the way the mystery dessert was prepared
  • Opened bottle of Sweet Marsala Wine
  • Circle cut-out device
  • Spider strainer next to the stove
  • Orange zest on counter – still on the grater/zester in the sink – to be cleaned
Stop! Before you read ahead, what do you think this mystery dessert could be?

Here’s what each team made, based off of the clues that each team saw in the Crime Scene Kitchen:

  • Lorie & Jason: Cannolis
  • Shania & Hope: Cannolis
  • Jane & Rebecca: Cannolis
  • Cory & Donte: Cannolis
  • Leslie & Emma: Cannolis
  • Natasha & Anthony: Doughnuts

MYSTERY DESSERT: Cannolis

WINNING TEAM: Lorie & Jason (showpiece advantage)

The second challenge in Crime Scene Kitchen is called the Main Event – the Showpiece Round. Whoever comes in last place this round will unfortunately be eliminated and go home.

In the second Main Event/Showpiece Round challenge, here were the following clues:

  • Shredded, sweetened coconut (unused)
  • Canned sweetened, condensed milk (unused)
  • Whisky with some sort of cream on it in the sink
  • 4 cake pans on drying rack
  • Tall measuring cup with remnants/residue on buttermilk in it
  • Sifter
  • Picture of cartoon mushrooms on cork board – indicated some possible decor idea(s)
  • Circle shapes on parchment paper – red outlines
  • Opened bottle of Kirsch licquer – unique to a certain dessert
  • Chocolate crumbs/cocoa powder
  • Bunches of unopened booze bottles of alcohol
  • Parchment paper with remnants/residue of chocolate sauce on it in the trash can
  • Laser chocolate temperer/candy thermometer
  • Dark chocolate
  • White chocolate

BONUS CLUE: White Bark in a Box

Stop! Before you read ahead, what do you think this mystery dessert could be?

Here’s what each team made, based off of the clues that each team saw in the Crime Scene Kitchen:

  • Cory & Donte: Red Velvet Cake
  • Shania & Hope: Black Forest Cake
  • Natasha & Anthony: Hummingbird Tres Leches Coconut Cake (mouthful, right?)
  • Leslie & Emma: Black Forest Cake
  • Jane & Rebecca: Yellow Cake w/ Buttercream Frosting/Icing
  • Lorie & Jason: Red Velvet Cake

MYSTERY DESSERT: Black Forest Cake (decorated)

WINNING TEAM: Leslie & Emma (The Top Dessert Detectives)

ELIMINATED TEAM: Natasha & Anthony (somethin’ about the Anthonys, huh – oops)

What are your thoughts on episode two of Crime Scene Kitchen? Also: what type of chocolate in your favorite – milk, dark, or white (for me, the order goes: dark, white, milk)?!

Adblock test (Why?)
