Port Jefferson Station Man Arrested For Double Shooting: PD - Patch.com

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — A 20-year-old Port Jefferson Station man has been charged in connection with the double shooting that took place outside of a Port Jefferson bar early Saturday morning, Suffolk police said.

Detectives arrested Ethan Ladd on Sunday, charging him with two counts of first-degree assault, a felony, police said. He is being held overnight at the 6th Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.

The two men, a 20-and 22-year-old, were shot outside of Tommy's Place, which is located at 109 Main St., at about 2 a.m., and were transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

Before the shooting, the two men were in Port Jefferson Village and that there "was a dispute," and afterward, the suspects fled in a vehicle, police said. The names of the men were not released.

Suffolk's Public Information Bureau would not say if investigators believe the shooting is drug or gang-related.

The double shooting was the second violent incident in the area of Port Jefferson since Thursday morning.

Patrols had been increased in the area of the shooting, as well as near Greenway Trail, where a man was found stabbed to death. Benjamin Flores-Mendez, 39, was found on the trail, which runs from Port Jefferson Station to Setauket, and no arrests have been made.

A police spokeswoman said investigators do not believe the shooting is related to the fatal stabbing.

Saturday's double shooting is the second shooting in Port Jefferson in recent months. A man was shot dead on West Main Street in broad daylight back in March. Joseph Garcia, 19, of Port Jefferson Station, was later charged with the murder of 25-year-old David Bliss of Shirley in that case.
