What started out as a perfect Saturday night for local speedways turned into a race against the elements as heavy rainstorms swept through the state. Numerous programs were completely washed away, and several others were interrupted before the final checkered flag could be waved.
Shows at Five Mile Point and Thunder Mountain and the Whelen Tour 200 at Riverhead were completely rained out, while Fulton, Oswego, Land of Legends and Lebanon Valley all failed to complete their programs.

OTTO SITTERLY AND DANNY KAPUSCINSKI WIN OSWEGO FEATURES BEFORE RAINS HIT
The Oswego Speedway had four open-wheel main events slated for Saturday, but after Otto Sitterly and Danny Kapuscinski won the first two features, torrential rains washed out the remainder of the show.
Sitterly’s win in the first of two 35-lap supermodified main events was his career 44th at Oswego, along with nine track championships. The event was marred by a lap 20 pileup that took out nine of the 19 starters.
After the restart, Sitterly raced through the top five and pulled away to a commanding lead at the finish. Early leader Dave Danzer was second, followed by Dave Shullick Jr. in third.
In the 30-lap small-block super finale, Danny Kapuscinski raced home first after rain shortened the event to 28 laps. The washed-out 350 feature will be added to the July 3 program, and the second 35-lapper for supers will be completed on July 10.
