A 76-year-old bicyclist was taken to Harborview Medical Center after he was hit while biking next to Highway 20 near Old Fort Townsend State Park Monday morning.
The bicyclist, a Port Townsend man, was riding along the eastern shoulder of the highway just before 11 a.m. Monday at the time of the collision, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The driver was identified as an 81-year-old Chimacum man.
The State Patrol said the Chimacum man was heading east on the highway at the time of the crash in a 1996 Dodge Ram pickup that was pulling a trailer.
Something on the trailer struck the bicyclist as the pickup truck passed by, according to the State Patrol, just north of the U-Haul rental business.
The truck driver was not injured.
The collision was still under investigation Monday afternoon.
