SAN ANTONIO – Three children led authorities to their injured mother and a gruesome scene after a San Antonio police officer spotted them walking down a street.
An SAPD sergeant at the scene said officers found the woman in an apartment before 4 a.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of Upland Road, near East Houston Street.
She was in a bathroom that was filled with blood, according to SAPD. At this time it is unclear if the woman was shot or stabbed, but officers said it appeared she had puncture wounds from a long object.
She had injuries to her upper body and legs, according to SAPD. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Blood was also found throughout the apartment, police said.
The children, ages 4, 5 and 8, told the officer that they were trying to find their father’s house.
They told the officer “mommy is dead” before leading police to the scene, according to SAPD. They are now with relatives.
The investigation is ongoing.
This is a developing story. It will be updated as more information becomes available.
