This is a historic and pivotal time for all of us — including the arts world.
Many Houston arts groups have been phasing into live performances and reopened art spaces over the past year and in recent months.
This fall, many will finally return to the stage for full, in-person seasons.
How will local arts groups move forward post-pandemic?
How has the past year altered their art forms?
And what's the future of live performance, equity and community and national impact?
Some organizations are rebuilding, innovating and even welcoming new leadership.
Today, directors from Houston Grand Opera, Houston Symphony and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston join us — all of whom have recently announced new leaders.
They discuss their visions, lessons learned and the future of Houston's arts scene.
Catherine Lu guest-hosts this episode.
Guests are:
- Houston Grand Opera’s incoming General Director & CEO, who begins her official role in January 2022
- Houston Symphony’s Executive Director & CEO, who talks about newly-announced Music Director Designate Juraj Valcuha — who begins his role as Music Director in the 2022-23 season
Town Square with Ernie Manouse is a gathering space for the community to come together and discuss the day’s most important and pressing issues.
Audio from today's show will be available after 5 p.m. CT. We also offer a free podcast here, on iTunes, and other apps.
