WynnBet enters Colorado sports gambling scene via deal with Rockies - The Denver Post

WynnBet, the sports gambling arm of Wynn Resorts, has entered the Colorado wagering arena via a multi-year sponsorship agreement with the Rockies.

WynnBet recently unveiled signage throughout Coors Field and app-activation assistance along the concourses.

“Our strategy as a company is to build partnerships and customer relationships that are enduring,” WynnBet CEO Craig Billings said in a phone interview with The Denver Post. “We view the Rockies as a multi-year opportunity to engage regularly with fans.”

Notable features for WynnBet customers will include “memorable moments” such as throwing out the first pitch. The  app’s spin wheel will provide opportunities to win game tickets and other prizes such as a trip to Wynn Las Vegas.

To promote the partnership, WynnBet will be offering a special Rockies in-app odds boost for Wednesday’s 7:40 p.m. game at Arizona: All Colorado users can bet the Rockies at plus-500 (maximum $10 bet, which pays a profit of $50).

WynnBet is currently available in Colorado, New Jersey, Michigan, Indiana, Virginia and Tennessee. The Rockies are its second MLB partnership, joining the Cincinnati Reds.

In a statement, Rockies vice president of corporate sponsorships Walker Monfort said: “WynnBet is widely regarded as one of the premier sports betting operators in the country and we are incredibly excited to join forces to bring fans throughout the Rocky Mountain Region new and exciting ways to engage with Rockies baseball.”

Denver-based teams have been acquiring gambling sponsorships since the state opened for business on May 1, 2020. The Rockies have deals with WynnBet, DraftKings and BetFred, the Broncos with BetMGM, FanDuel and BetFred and the Avalanche/Nuggets with PointsBet.

According to the state, Colorado had a handle of $2.3 billion in its first year of legal sports betting, resulting in $147.4 million in gross revenue and $6.6 million in state taxes.

“It’s been amazing what the industry has been able to do in the state,” Billings said.

WynnBet is positioning itself for massive expansion this year.

“Our first step was to go out and make sure we had the ability to get into various markets and we set out to launch in those states,” Billings said. “We have a litany of product enhancements that we’ll be bringing to market ahead of the NFL season. As each new state comes on, I’m confident in our ability to compete.”

By the time the NFL season starts in September, Billings said WynnBet will have a “host of customer-centric product features with very unique promotions and features.”

Billings estimates the American sports gambling industry will eventually be a $40 billion market annually.

“That’s the same size as the commercial casino business in this country,” he said. “It does feel like hyper-growth. Everybody is scrambling to achieve their market position.”
