PARSONS, Kan. – Labette Community College Criminal Justice students get a hands-on lesson investigating a crime scene.
They took part in a mock crime scene on Tuesday, September 29, 2021.
Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks set up the “scene of the crime” for them to investigate. They organized three different scenes near the Parsons Police Department. One was a mock “body found” scenario, one was a mock crash and the third was a mock shooting.
The students found evidence and sketched out the scenes. They also practiced interviewing suspects in interrogation rooms.
Spinks says it gives students a chance to work through the investigation process.
This is the second year for the mock scene lessons.
