The Michigan Opera Theatre goes marathon with a 12-hour performance of “Bliss” noon to midnight Saturday, Sept. 25, in the historic Michigan Building Theatre. This re-creation of Ragnar Kjartansson’s performance, based on Mozart’s “Marriage of Figaro,” is reimagined by Artistic Director Yuval Sharon and conducted by Christopher Rountree. “Bliss” replays a three-minute scene in a continuous loop, with the cast as and orchestra performing without pause as Count Almaviva (Corey Mckern) pleads his wife’s (Nicole Joseph) forgiveness, creating a cycle of repentance and grace. Tickets, on a pay-what-you-can basis, are valid for all 12 hours, allowing audiences to come and go as they please. Visit michiganopera.org.
