The number of reports of “needle spiking” is small, but some lawmakers are calling for a nationwide police review to assess what’s happening. The Nottingham police said that some women who reported being injected had effects “consistent with a substance being administered.” So far, the police said none of those who reported being injected were assaulted, but the fear is that could happen.
The reports come amid rising anger over several high-profile cases of violence against women.
