Update at 8 p.m.: Syracuse police confirmed a man was struck by a vehicle and killed Monday evening on Harrison Street.
The victim, a man in his 60s, was unconscious when officers arrived, Syracuse police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Malinowski said.
The man, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver who struck the pedestrian remained on the scene, Malinowski said.
“The investigation is active and ongoing,” he said.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse police are investigating a crash that appears to be fatal that closed part of Harrison Street during rush hour Monday evening.
Someone called 911 at 5:01 p.m. to report the crash on Harrison Street near South State Street, dispatchers said.
Syracuse police and firefighters, and American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance responded. The crash happened in the driving lane of Harrison Street between the War Memorial and Oncenter, but closer to the War Memorial, according to witnesses.
Officers hung yellow police tape around the crash site and blocked traffic on Harrison Street while they investigated the crash.
Syracuse police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Malinowski said he did not have any information yet about what happened and he did not know if anyone died.
Witnesses said it appeared police were investigating a fatal car-pedestrian crash. Police dispatches reported a man was struck and suffered a head injury, and was not moving or breathing immediately after the crash.
The Onondaga County Medical Examiner arrived at the crash scene shortly before 7 p.m.
