We’re all painfully aware of the shortages—and higher prices—resulting from serious supply chain challenges. Government, so far, has been rather helpless, exemplified by our Transportation Secretary taking parental leave.
But this episode of What’s Ahead points out that immediate and effective measures could be taken to bust open the bottlenecks and names the man who should head up this crucial—and Christmas-saving!—effort: Ryan Petersen. He runs a fast-growing freight-forwarding operation called Flexport. With one tweet—which became a megastorm—he has already wrought a minor miracle at the major port of Long Beach, CA.
There are other emergency Petersen-like moves that could be taken instead of the punitive fines that are now being imposed on shippers for delays that are beyond their control, fines that could sink some already-listing shippers.
By the way, those fines will also result in higher consumer prices.
