On December 3, 2021 at approximately 11:55 p.m., troopers in Auburn responded to a 2-car personal injury motor vehicle accident on State Route 34 in the town of Genoa. Witnesses on scene reported that the driver of one of the involved vehicles had left the scene on foot. Troopers located a male, identified as Mynor Escalante-Lopez, age 25, of Genoa walking a short distance away on the side of the road . Troopers interviewed Escalante-Lopez and determined that he was the driver of the abandoned vehicle. Escalante-Lopez displayed signs of impairment and after failing field sobriety tests, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
Escalante-Lopez submitted to a breath test and recorded a .18% BAC. He was charged with Aggravated DWI, Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident and various traffic violations. Escalante-Lopez was issued an appearance ticket and is due to return to Genoa Town Court on a later date in December.
