Dachshund Recreating Cute Scene From Disney Classic Has People 'Sobbing' - Newsweek

An adorable dachshund has been melting hearts online after his owner shared a clip of him recreating a scene from the classic Disney movie Up.

Teddy the miniature dachshund has been drawing dog lovers to his TikTok page thanks to his super cute impression of Dug, the talking golden retriever from the Pixar favorite.

At the time of writing, his enchanting performance as the animated canine has garnered over 3.2 million views online and left many dog lovers awestruck at the cuteness of it all.

The footage, which was posted to teddytheminiaturedachsy_, can be watched here.

Studies have shown that not only are dogs able to perceive images on television in a way similar to their human companions, they can also recognize different animals on screen—especially their fellow pooches.

This was highlighted by French researchers in a 2013 study published in the journal Animal Cognition. The experiment saw nine pet dogs shown pictures of faces from a variety of dog breeds and cross breeds along with faces of other animal species, including humans.

The canines were presented with 144 pairs of pictures from as many as 40 different species including dogs. The results indicated dogs were capable of forming a visual category of dog faces and were able to group pictures of decidedly different dogs into a single category, using their visual sense alone, suggesting they recognize their fellow canines when presented on screen.

That might go some way to explaining Teddy's apparent affinity with Dug, the dog in Up and possibly his willingness to imitate the canine character, though it's likely that their owner played a part in training him to perform the tricks in the video.

In the clip, Teddy can be seen standing on his owner's bed, watching Up play behind him on a television. Seconds later, he turns to face the camera, before proceeding to match Dug's actions on the screen in the background. "I have learnt this part by heart," an onscreen caption reads.

His efforts certainly appear to have captured the hearts of the pet-loving community on social media, with many heading to the video's comments section to gush over Teddy's performance.

Andrealouproc commented: "Oh my goodness this is everything." Hannah Walker added: "I am sobbing, oh my." P4wsonnii was similarly emotional, confessing that they "cried" in response to the clip. "This has made my day," NathalieMrsT wrote while Mollie Maguire declared: "I'm freaking out, it's so cute."

Elsewhere, avrilm123 said: "Oh what a little movie star." Miyachinen82 ordered Teddy's owners to "take him to Disney right now." Albedonkers concluded it was simply "too cute" while Formula1Fan4433 said: "The dog deserves an A+."
