The suspect remains outstanding, and the status of the officer is unknown.
The shooting occurred inside the Union at Roosevelt apartment complex, as the officer was serving a warrant, according to ABC15’s Ashley Paredez.
Phoenix Vice Mayor Yassamin Ansari warned people around 8 p.m. to stay clear of Roosevelt Row and surrounding neighborhoods. The scene came during First Friday, a busy event in the area.
Valley Metro tweeted that due to police activity, eastbound trains started picking up passengers at westbound stations in the downtown area. Trains temporarily bypassed the Roosevelt Street/Central Avenue station, but normal light rail service resumed around 9:30 p.m.
This is a developing story.
