Updated at 8:31 a.m., Sunday, Jan 8 to add identification of victims. Updated at 4:14 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7 to include additional information from Suffolk Fire and Rescue.

Two North Carolina men are dead after a small passenger plane crashed Saturday afternoon in the 3900 block of Carolina Road, Suffolk.
Virginia State Police reported the fatalities in a news release. The crash occurred at about 12:16 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7.
With assistance of the Federal Aviation Administration, VSP identified the two passengers on the plane who were killed as Christian Rask Fauchald, 54, and Eric John Bergevin, 53, both of North Carolina.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue also was on the scene Saturday working to contain the fire that resulted from the crash, VSP said.
Fire and Rescue’s Engine 8 arrived on the scene at 12:18 p.m. to find heavy smoke showing from a large area. Firefighters found a plane had crashed about a quarter mile off of Carolina Road, according to a Fire and Rescue news release.
The resulting crash caused a large area of brush and trees to catch fire with homes in the area threatened by the rapidly progressing fire, the city news release said.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue is operating a three-alarm fire to contain the spread. The fire is spreading across about 35 acres of open field and forest. All residents affected have been safely evacuated, according to the release.
Officials said the fire is not under control.
The small passenger plane was fully engulfed in fire after the crash, according to VSP. It is unknown the make or model of the plane presently.
State Police said the scene of the plane crash remains very active at this time.
Virginia State Police is the lead agency investigating the incident. The FAA and NTSB have also been notified and were set to be on the site Sunday to begin their investigations, VSP officials said.
