The Young Sheldon cast is dressed to the nines — and George Sr. is nowhere in sight — in new behind-the-scenes photos from the CBS comedy.
Just days after the Coopers gathered for their final family dinner, a flurry of social media posts show Montana Jordan (Georgie), Emily Osment (Mandy) and several recurring guest stars donning funeral-appropriate attire.

The first post comes courtesy of Raegan Revord (Missy), whose latest TikTok shows her TV brother dressed in a suit:
Then comes a pair of photos in Osment’s Instagram story: a selfie shared Wednesday, and a group shot shared Thursday with recurring guest stars Melissa Peterman (who plays next-door neighbor Brenda Sparks) and Brian Stepanek (who plays Medford High science teacher Mr. Givens):
Our fourth piece of evidence comes from Rachael Bay Jones (Audrey), who on Thursday shared a photo with TV daughter Osment, TV husband Will Sasso (Jim) and fan-favorite Wallace Shawn (aka Professor Sturgis):
Young Sheldon showrunner Steve Holland previously told TVLine that the Big Bang Theory prequel’s final season would deal with George Sr.’s passing. “I don’t want to say what you will or won’t see, but things will get addressed,” he said in February. “We are not beholden to every joke that was ever made on The Big Bang Theory, but we do feel beholden to the larger canon and the larger events that shape Sheldon’s life. We want to honor those.
“[George Sr.’s death] is a thing that happens in Sheldon’s life,” he confirmed. “This is the same character [from Big Bang]. We are living in the same universe as Big Bang and that sort of world building is important. Big things that [Adult Sheldon said] happened in his life without a doubt happened.”
Earlier this week, Revord shared a sneak peek at Young Sheldon’s final family dinner scene, saying it was “an emotional one to film. We opened the show with a dinner scene where we were first introduced to the Cooper family and they quickly became a staple in the show.
“Those scenes were always my favorite to film because they brought us all together,” she wrote, “and, like a real family, we got to sit around the table and eat and catch up with each other. It felt like being home with the people I love.”
New episodes of Young Sheldon airs Thursdays at 8/7c on CBS (and stream next day on Paramount+). Its one-hour series finale airs May 16.
