UPDATE (4/10/24) — Police said the suspect in an officer-involved shooting in north Tulsa died from his injuries.
TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Police said the suspect in an officer-involved shooting near Apache and Lewis in north Tulsa on Wednesday was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Police said officers responded to a disturbance call around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The caller said a male suspect was outside their home causing a disturbance and the caller did not want them to be there.
Police said the suspect and the caller exchanged some words at some point, and then the suspect fired two shots into the air before running off.
Officers said the suspect wasn't there when they arrived. They went searching with a K9 officer and found him in a field near Pine between Peoria and Lewis just north of Highway 75. The suspect was also confirmed to be a convicted felon.
Police said the suspect still had the gun in his hand, raised it, and pointed it at officers.
Police said an officer then fired and shot the suspect in response.
Officers moved up to the suspect and gave him medical aid while waiting for paramedics to arrive. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
No officers were injured.
