CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Police are now reporting that the Sunday morning crash that killed two pedestrians is being investigated as a hit-and-run.
The Charleston Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is on the scene.
Lieutenant Anthony Gibson with the Charleston Police Department says information is limited as the scene remains active.
The accident took place on Morrison Drive.
Public Information Officer Chris Stinson said they received the report at 8:32 a.m. The time of the actual accident has not yet been determined.
Police say Morrison Drive is closed between Harris and Cooper Streets in all directions.
People are asked to avoid the area as the MAIT continues its investigation.
There is no current timeframe for when the road will be reopened.
No information about the deceased persons has been released.
