Randolph police find, arrest suspect who fled armed robbery scene - WCVB Boston

A Massachusetts man was taken into custody four days after he was suspected of committing an armed robbery in Randolph, according to police.Eliezer Beato, 20, of Malden, was arrested Friday in connection with Monday's robbery that happened in the area of Johnson Drive, Randolph police Chief Anthony Marag announced.Another suspect, 18-year-old Shaun Culbreath-Isles, of Malden, was arrested shortly after the robbery happened.Marag said that at about 1:20 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to the area of Johnson Drive after they received a report of an armed robbery, during which two suspects held up a person in a vehicle with a black revolver. The police chief said no injuries were reported during the armed robbery.A resident of Johnson Drive told NewsCenter 5 reporter John Atwater that it appeared three young men — the armed robbery victim and two others — were trying to chase down the suspects, who were fleeing in a vehicle.Emmanuel Ofoarami, who lives in a home along the cul-de-sac at the end of Johnson Drive, said he suddenly saw a white car in his backyard, which prompted him to call 911."I saw three boys. They were just looking through the car, and I was scared," Ofoarami said. "I don't know when they got into the compound. I didn't see them driving in. I just saw a car behind my house and three young boys around the car."Culbreath-Isles was taken into custody by Randolph police following a foot pursuit. He was accused of stealing jewelry and a cellphone from the victim, and according to police, he was also in possession of stolen checks when he was arrested.Marag said Beato fled on foot into the area of the town dump, which abuts Route 24, and that police were unable to find him after searching the area.Investigators were able to identify Beato as the second suspect and on Friday, Randolph police and Malden police arrested him at a Warren Avenue residence in Malden. Marag said Beato was in possession of eight stolen checks when he was arrested.Beato was transported to the Randolph Police Department, where he was booked on charges of armed robbery, malicious destruction of property and resisting arrest. He was later transported to Quincy District Court, where he was arraigned Friday afternoon.Culbreath-Isles was charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of a burglarious tool and eight counts of receiving stolen property.Previous coverage:
