An ATV driver was under the influence when he crashed the vehicle last year in Buena Vista and caused the death of his passenger, authorities said.
Michael Brown, of Buena Vista, was charged with vehicular homicide, receiving stolen property, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in death on July 26 and was arrested at a business in Camden County on Wednesday, the New Jersey State Police announced Friday.
On Sept. 20, at 9:29 p.m., state troopers were called to the scene of the crash on West Colton Lane, and an investigation revealed that Brown was driving a Honda ATV which left the road in the area of West Cushman Avenue, according to a statement from the police.
The ATV then hit a tree and ejected Brown and his passenger, Christopher Vasinda, 34, of Williamstown, who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Brown was originally arrested for suspicion of DWI at a home in the area shortly after he fled the scene of the crash, authorities said.
The investigation later determined that he was under the influence at the time of the crash and we was charged and arrested, police said.
Police did not immediately provide more information about the stolen property charge
He was taken to Atlantic County Jail pending his detention hearing.
