STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — You’ve read the articles. You’ve seen the photos. Now, we’re bringing you behind the scenes for an in-depth look at the reporting process and how we cover the biggest stories on Staten Island.
We recently launched Staten Island Advance’s From the Scene, a new podcast where we discuss some of the most significant stories impacting the borough with the reporters who cover them each and every day.
We spoke with reporter Kyle Lawson about the 102nd Memorial Day Parade and dove into how the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic upended the arts community on Staten Island with reporter Victoria Priola.
There’s plenty more on the way.
The show, hosted by Erik Bascome, our transportation and community news reporter, will be posted biweekly on Fridays and will feature insightful interviews with our knowledgeable reporters, audio snippets from elected officials and prominent members of the Staten Island community, as well as interesting factoids from throughout the borough’s storied history.
We aim to discuss these stories in-depth and bring you behind-the-scenes to give a better understanding of how we get the information we need to keep you informed.
Our third episode, available later today, focuses on how Staten Island’s schools endured the coronavirus pandemic and what students and teachers can expect going into next school year.
