CAMBRIDGE – Police are investigating an early Sunday morning shooting in The Port neighborhood, according to a statement.

Authorities said no one was hurt in the incident, though a vehicle and a residence were damaged.

At 2:09 a.m. Sunday, officers heard gunshots and received a ShotSpotter notice for the area near Windsor and Market streets, according to the statement.

Officers spoke with a resident who they believe is the target of the shooting, according to the statement. Police said the resident refused medical attention.

While searching for evidence, officers recovered a gun on Windsor Street, according to the statement.

Police will be processing evidence from the gunshots and the recovered firearm, as well as following up with the victim, witnesses and anyone living and working in the area at the time of the shooting.

In the interim, the Cambridge Police Department plans to be more visible in the area through directed patrols and community outreach.

Eight out of the 10 confirmed gunshot incidents in 2021 in Cambridge have occurred within The Port neighborhood, according to the statement.
