Hit and skip: Metropolitan Boulevard
A resident called police at 5:26 p.m. July 26 after a red truck with a trailer struck the family’s mailbox and left the scene. Unfortunately for the driver, the landscaping company’s name was written on the side of the truck with its phone number. The resident went to the station to file a statement. The next day police issued the driver with two citations.
Speeding: Columbia Road
An officer cited a motorist for speeding at 6 a.m. July 22.
Suspicious situation: Ravinia Drive
A woman just pulled into her residence at 9:18 p.m. July 22. She found her front door open and called police. She did not see any activity in her house. The officer came to the house and checked it out. The house was cleared.
Suspicious car: Water Street
An officer found two cars parked in the lower lot of the David Fortier Park at 12:08 a.m. July 24. He found a group of about six people walking up from under the bridge. The driver of one of the cars was cited for park hours.
Found property: Cottage Courts
Someone found keys about a week ago July 24 at Cottage Courts at the mailbox. No one had claimed them. Police now have custody of them until the rightful owner claims them.
Medical assistance: Fernwood Drive
A rider sharing driver called police at 8:40 p.m. July 25 about a man he just dropped off. The man was on the ground and unable to walk due to his being intoxicated. He also was on oxygen. Paramedics arrived and transported the man to the hospital.
Found property: Columbia Road
A caller contacted police July 26 about finding a purse Friday on top of a car, but no one claimed it. An officer came by and picked it up. Perrysburg police were called about the purse’s owner but nothing more was learned. Local authorities contacted Southwest Community Health Center to see if the owner was transported there but she was not. They called back Perrysburg Township to contact the woman’s home. They were able to do so and will give her the contact number for local police. The woman then picked up her purse at the station.
Parking violation: Cascade Court
Police ticketed two cars early July 27 for overnight parking on Cascade and Driftwood Drive.
Foot patrol: Columbia Road
An officer at 4:33 a.m. July 27 checked an open door at a vacant business. He checked the interior, which was cleared. The officer secured the door and left.
Fraud: Garfield Road
A resident called police July 27 about having $4,455 and $4,791 stolen from an account.
Traffic stop: Columbia Road
An officer cited a motorist July 27 with speeding. He advised him of not having insurance and wearing a seat belt.
Welfare check: Columbia Road
Police were out with two people they found near the railroad tracks after the motorist avoided them earlier. The man had fictitious plates on a car. When he saw cruisers, he parked near the covered bridge and got out with his young passenger. He left that area but was found at the tracks.
Trespassing: Columbia Road
The owner of a home called police at 9:13 a.m. July 28 about some unwanted people on his property. He said no one was allowed to be there. Police found the back door unlocked. Police and the owner entered the structure. Police removed drug paraphernalia and sent it the items to the fire department for proper disposal. The property owner, who was in construction, said there may be a crew there later to continue work.
