WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Update 12:30 p.m. Tuesday: The scene has cleared with no one found in the house. The situation remains under investigation.
Update: At approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a disturbance with a weapon call in the 2400 block of N Poplar. As they were responding, 911 received another call that shots were fired. Police said the situation is related to a domestic violence incident involving “friends and children.”
A suspect fired multiple shots toward a vehicle at the residence. No one was injured and all of the children are safely out of the home. The SWAT team and crisis negotiators are on the scene to negotiate a peaceful end to a standoff that is ongoing with the suspect still inside the home.
There is an active SWAT presence near 23rd and Grove in east Wichita Tuesday morning. N. Poplar is blocked off near the 2400 block. There are no details available at this time. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
