Trotwood fire and water crews were dispatched just after 4:30 p.m. to Madison Lake at the 580 block of Olive Road on reports of a swift water rescue, according to Ralph Bowman of the Trotwood Fire Department.
“Upon arrival, there was a large number of kids swimming on the other side of the lake,” he told News Center 7. “Two of them got a little further out away from the bank and one of them went underwater. His friend tried to save him, but was unable to. That’s when they called 911 because his friend was out in the water.”
Bowman says the teen in the water is 17 years old and it is a confirmed recovery operation.
