Indiana Jones is back for another adventure, and it seems like it will be Harrison Ford’s final time as the swashbuckling archeologist. But, as with every movie today, there are plenty of questions about whether Indy’s latest quest ends before or after the credits.
Thankfully, in true Indiana Jones spirit, Dial of Destiny doesn’t have a credits scene. Nothing in the middle or at the end to tease another sequel or add a comedic beat to the movie. When it’s done, it’s done.
And that’s probably a good thing. For all the prickliness of Harrison Ford, it’s clear he loves the character of Indiana Jones as much as or more than any he’s ever played, so it’s a well-deserved tribute to one of cinema’s greatest adventurers that his movie ends on his terms, rather than looking to someone else’s future.

And the movie itself doesn’t close the door on Indy’s adventuring just yet. Before the credits roll, we see Indiana’s hat hanging on a clothesline, just before he reaches in and snatches it, reminding us that even if he isn’t the star of another movie, he’s still out there adventuring somewhere.
Of course, just because a movie doesn’t have a post-credits scene, that doesn’t mean it won’t be getting a sequel — and with Dial of Destiny already set to open strong at the box office, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if some kind of follow-up arrives eventually. There have been previous attempts to hand the series off to a new actor playing a new character: Way back in 2008, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull introduced Shia LaBeouf as Indy’s estranged son, Mutt Williams. The most obvious choice to follow in Indiana’s footsteps this time around is Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Helena Shaw, but if that’s happening, there’s no solid indication of it yet. And certainly not in the credits of this movie.
