CELORON — First responders from several south county departments were called Sunday afternoon to a large fire that broke out in Celoron.
Firefighters had been notified at 2:25 p.m. of a fire inside a garage at 21 N. Allegheny Ave. in the village. The fire eventually spread to a home on the property.
With moderate winds, the afternoon blaze also caused numerous nearby grass fires.
At the scene, flames could be seen coming from the structure’s roof. Due to the possibility of a roof collapse, crews doused the home with water from outside.
Crews from Celoron, Lakewood, Jamestown, Falconer, Busti, Ashville, Bemus Point, Kiantone, and Panama responded. The Ellicott Police Department and Chautauqua County EMS assisted at the scene as well.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
