Man charged with leaving scene of fiery crash in Yarmouth, police say
A Massachusetts man is facing multiple charges after police say he left the scene of a car crash that resulted in a fire in the Cape Cod community of Yarmouth.Arthur Garabrant III, 42, of South Yarmouth, was issued a summons for negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and leaving the scene of an accident, according to police.Yarmouth police said they received a 911 call shortly after 11:55 p.m. Friday about a crash in West Yarmouth, where the vehicle involved was fully engulfed in flames.A video shared by the Yarmouth Police Department showed that responding officers worked to extinguish the car fire and break the vehicle's windows to make sure no one was trapped inside.Police said the burning car was unoccupied and Yarmouth firefighters who arrived at the scene were able to quickly extinguish the fire. The car was a total loss, according to police.Yarmouth police said Garabrant, who was identified as the driver of the car, was located at a nearby residence and subsequently issued the summons.The Yarmouth Police Department commended the following officers for their actions at the crash scene: Sgt. Richard Fichter, Officer Samantha Voltolini, Officer Mark Noone, Officer TJ Belinski and Officer Liz Scott.Related stories:
