Does Dune 2 Have A Post-Credits Scene? - Screen Rant

Summary

  • Dune 2 does not have a post-credits scene, staying true to Villeneuve's vision for the franchise's future.
  • The lack of an after-credits scene in Dune 2 is unsurprising, as Villeneuve opted for a more natural setup for the sequel.
  • While there are no post-credits teases, Dune 2 still sets up future installments with hints and foreshadowing throughout the film.

Dune: Part Two is the second part in Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi franchise, and with plans for more, the potential for a Dune 2 post-credits scene setting up what's to come increased. The sequel to 2021's Dune adapts the second part of Frank Herbert's original novel, expanding upon Paul Atreides' time with the Fremen and his plot to overthrow the Harkonnen's reign on Arrakis. While Dune 2 marks the end of the story told in the first book, the sci-fi series has more source material to adapt. Denis Villeneuve has even teased a possible Dune: Messiah movie adaptation multiple times.

With plans for a prequel TV series already confirmed and the likely third movie, there is no doubt that Dune 2's ending will not be the last audiences see of this world. The question on many minds, though, will be if there is anything included in the credits that is used to tease what's coming next. Hollywood has made after-credits scenes an increasingly standard practice, especially when it comes to major franchises, a category Dune now falls into. But with an auteur like Denis Villeneuve at the helm, whether a Dune post-credits scene would actually happen was uncertain.

Dune 2 sees the rise of Emperor Paul Atreides. However, Dune 3 is where the repercussions of Paul’s messianic destiny are truly revealed.

Dune: Part Two Does Not Have A Post-Credits Scene

Now that the movie has been released, it is confirmed that there is no Dune 2 post-credits scene included after the film. This not only includes the lack of a scene at the very end of the credits, but also nothing in the mid-credits. The lack of an after-credits scene will remain true regardless of where one watches Dune 2, whether that be in theaters or on streaming. It is still encouraged to sit through the credits to see the names of everyone who worked on all aspects of the film.

Why Dune 2 Doesn't Have An End-Credits Scene

Chani confronts Jessica with writing on her face in Dune 2

The decision not to include an end-credits scene with Dune 2 is unsurprising. Denis Villeneuve did not include one after the first Dune movie, even though it was quite clear that a sequel was coming. With Dune 3 also potentially happening, he could have easily included a scene that gave audiences a glimpse into the franchise's future, much like the visions Paul Atreides has. Even with the source material for a third film already established, including a Dune 2 after-credits scene might have ultimately backfired for Denis when it came to crafting his true vision.

There might not be a post-credits scene setting up what is to come, but Dune 2 still does a fair amount of legwork in setting up the future. Teases for Dune 3 repeatedly come by the conclusion of the film, while there are even possible hints for the prequel series, Dune: Prophecy. With the franchise set up coming naturally through the conclusion of Paul's story, it would have been redundant for Villeneuve to double-down on the franchise teases with a Dune 2 end-credits scene. That easily explains why Dune: Part Two ends without including bonus scenes after the credits.

'Survivor 46' exclusive deleted scene shows Q wanting to see some fight - Entertainment Weekly News

Q Burdette told us before the game that the one person he wanted to play with on Survivor 46 was David Jelinsky. Unfortunately for Q, he got his wish. The two were placed together on the Yanu tribe and then immediately came in last place during the marooning challenge, with Jelinsky failing to figure out the puzzle.

The duo then took on the Sweat task of filling two big urns with water, only for Jelinsky to quit because there apparently was some confusion over the meaning of the word several. And then Jelinsky quit on the Torch, Vote, Skull card game on his Journey — giving up his vote in the process. Suffice it to say, Q was not pleased. But all that could change if the tribe — and Jelisnky — could just come through in the upcoming immunity challenge.

EW now has an exclusive deleted scene (above) from the Survivor 46 premiere showing Q’s headspace going into that critical competition, and it seems the former college football star was actually looking forward to the contest so he could see what his tribe was made of.

Q Burdette on 'Survivor 46'.

cbs

In the scene, we see Jelinsky reading a Tree Mail message with the challenge clue: “Reptiles lurk in the jungle, lizards abound in this game. Cold-blooded serpents at Tribal Council are determined to put out your flame.” After the tribe try to guess what the challenge could be, Q shares his thoughts on getting to see his team back in action.

“Going into this challenge, I'm excited,” says Q. “Because I'm going to figure a lot out about my tribemates. I'm going to figure out who's willing to fight, who's not, who can step up to the challenge that they volunteer to do. So now, it's a time for me to put the people in the right position to lead them.”

As far as Q is concerned, the key for his tribe was to get rid of the loser mentality seeping in. “It's my job now to get their minds off of the past. We have to play the next play, because if you let that first challenge get to you and you get worried, we're going to go into this one timid. We have to attack it, because here's the beauty of it: We don't have to come in first. We just can't come in last.”

Unfortunately, coming in last is exactly what happened — with the Yanu tribe trailing throughout the entire thing. If Q wanted to see what his tribemates were made of, he cannot like we saw. Will the unanimous ouster of Jelinksy at the Tribal Council that followed change their fate moving forward? Only time will tell, but in the meantime, check out the deleted scene at the top of the article, and then you can go back to debating the true meaning of the word several.

'Shōgun's First Big Sex Scene Reveals How Courtesan Kiku Strips Down Her Clients in More Ways than One - Decider

The first episode of FX‘s new drama Shōgun drops us in the thick of 1600 Japan. Through the eyes of English navigator John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis), we look on at the people of Anjiro, a fictional fishing village in Izo, with a combination of awe and horror. Everything is ultra civilized, clean, and ordered, but, you know, a samurai can still just behead a dude out of nowhere.

**Spoilers for Shōgun Episode 1 “Anjin,” now streaming on Hulu**

Halfway through Shōgun Episode 1 “Anjin,” we discover that Izo’s ruling daimyo Kashigi Yabushige (Tadanobu Asano) has a unique obsession with death and torture. He singles out a surviving member of Blackthorne’s Dutch crew to literally boil alive. The screams of the dying man disturb even the local villagers, but Yabu, as he’s known as, is fixated on listening for the moment a man faces death. “It’s the closest he can get,” Izu’s most prized courtesan Kiku (Yuka Kouri) murmurs right before she meets Yabu. It’s this insight into her customer’s psyche that gives the sex worker and the ensuing scene — Shōgun‘s first sex scene — power.

Shōgun‘s first major sex scene, wherein Kiku quickly figures out the way to please Yabu is to cuckold him, is a stunning introduction for the courtesan. It not only establishes that sex workers are valued in this culture, but the secret reason they truly command respect. Kiku might be empirically beautiful. She might have mastered the graceful ceremonies associated with seduction. She might even know exactly how to slyly smile as she declares it’s her honor to serve and duty to please. However the reason Kiku is so in-demand as a courtesan is because of her talent of reading people. This gives her significant power in a culture where everyone’s dissembling their true motives.

Maybe, as Rodriguez (Nestor Carbonell) says, the people of Japan have three hearts, but Shōgun Episode 1 “Anjin” establishes that Kiku can cut through all of them.

Shōgun is based on the best-selling James Clavell novel of the same name, but the new FX show shifts the focus of the story early on away from John Blackthorne and onto the many brilliant Japanese characters who go on to play major roles in the book. Political power player Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada) has been outmaneuvered by his nemesis Ishido (Takehiro Hira) and is looking for any way to wiggle out of a swiftly approaching death sentence for himself and his vassals. Blackthorne’s arrival becomes that slight edge. Blackthorne’s ship, Erasmus, has valuable canons which can be used in battle. But more importantly, the Protestant Blackthorne offers a wider view of the world than the Catholic Portuguese who have Japan in their chokehold.

However, Toranaga isn’t the first person to see Blackthorne’s worth. As soon as Blackthorne’s ship is discovered on the coast of Anjiro, local samurai Kashigi Omi (Hiroto Kanai) presents Erasmus and her wealth, weapons, and surviving crew as gifts to his uncle Yabu. But that’s not all Omi gives his uncle. He also calls upon Kiku’s services.

We’re not only told that Kiku is the most revered courtesan in Izu, but shown this through the courtesy every character gives her. Yabu’s young retainer seems dazzled by her. So much so that he not only apologizes for his master’s little stunt with the boiling water, but can’t keep his eyes off her when she’s presented to Yabu. The daimyo seemingly takes more notice of this than Kiku herself. At which point, Kiku draws the young man near, embracing him while looking right at Yabu.

At first, Yabu is confused. Kiku asks simply if she should stop. The answer is to keep going.

Soon, Kiku has undressed both herself and the boy. She leaves a trail of kisses down the young man’s chest before going to work pleasuring him. The whole time she watches Yabu and Yabu, grinning with his drink, watches her. She has unlocked that Yabu is a man who gets off imagining himself in other men’s shoes, be they approaching death, ruling a larger fiefdom, or in the arms of a graceful courtesan.

Photo: FX

Intriguingly, this scene is an ever-so-slight departure from what actually happens in James Clavell’s original novel. Kiku and a boy enter the book version of Yabu’s room, only for him to ask them both to lay next to him, pleasuring and hurting him at the same time. At least, that’s my read on it. Clavell is vague, but it’s clear Yabu’s fetish surprises both Kiku and the boy, not to mention all of Anjiro. There’s gossip that Yabu himself wants to use his teeth to hurt Kiku and she fans these rumors by feigning soreness she doesn’t feel.

In both cases, however, we learn a lot about this world and Kiku’s place in it. She is honored and respected because of her talents, which go beyond just the physical. Just as she quickly figures out Yabu’s desires in the show, she knows that it’s better for his reputation to maintain an aura of fear in the book. Kiku isn’t a revered courtesan simply because she’s a good lay, but because she’s a great strategist in a culture that values cunning above all else.

Indiana's Assembly Hall was evacuated Tuesday mid-game in a bizarre scene during the Hoosiers' Big Ten clash against Wisconsin.

Fans, staff and players returned moments later after what appeared to be a false alarm.

The evacuation took place with the game tied at 54-54 midway through the second half. The capacity crowd of 17,222 fans was told over the public address system to leave their seats and the building.

The fire alarm blared as the last few fans in the arena filed out.

Fans didn't go far. They huddled outside while waiting to hear what was next.

Indiana announced that the evacuation was due to alarms going off, but offered no other details at the time.

Roughly 15 minutes after the evacuation, fans were invited back in. There apparently was no fire.

Players warmed up and resumed play moments later.

As for what triggered the fire alarm, that remained unclear. But fire officials had issued an all clear.

Fans who returned were treated to a 74-70 Indiana win — and an experience they're unlikely to forget.

Family describes violent scene left behind on missing American couple’s yacht after alleged hijacking in Grenada - CNN

CNN  —

The family of two Americans who may have been killed after prison escapees allegedly hijacked their yacht in Grenada are clinging to hope the couple might be found alive.

The pair have been identified by their sailing club as Kathy Brandel and Ralph Hendry, a couple from Virginia who were spending the winter cruising the Eastern Caribbean after sailing their yacht, Simplicity, from Hampton, Virginia, to Antigua.

Authorities have yet to confirm the identities of the couple, but police in Grenada have said they have three men back in custody who escaped from prison on February 18 and may have killed two people believed to be US citizens.

Brandel’s son - Nick Buro – told CNN Sunday they were holding out hope the couple might be found safe but evidence on Simplicity suggested violent scenes.

“The boat itself was ransacked and everything was strewn about in the entire cabin so clearly there was an altercation of some type that took place on the boat which does indicate that we are concerned for their safety overall because it does appear that they were likely injured,” he said.

“They were super careful to be safe all the time,” Buro said. “Everywhere they went everything they did, safety was their top, top concern so this unfortunate accident, I think, it came out of nowhere for them.”

Buro said the search effort is ongoing. “As far as we know three suspects are allegedly connected with this horrific event are in custody with the St. Vincent police and are being questioned,” he said.

“We are doing our best to try and get answers to find out what is next in terms of hopefully finding them safely recovered somewhere on the islands,” Nick Buro told CNN Sunday. “But of course from the evidence that’s been found on the boat, we are concerned that there might be a possibility that they aren’t with us.”

Buro said his mother and Hendry were seasoned sailors and had sold their home years ago to buy a boat.

“It was their home. Everything they had, they owned, was on that boat. It was their life,” he said. “Kathy worked her whole life and then retired. Ralph worked in financial services and continued to work from the boat. But really what they did was sell their home, sell their possessions, and bought a boat and choose a lifestyle that most of us would never imagine could be done. And they loved every minute of it and they saw many parts of the world and just lived a life of joy and love.”

This winter was the first time his mother and stepfather had sailed to the Caribbean, Buro said, a trip they had been planning for years.

He said the couple had a strong connection to Virginia’s Christian community and a prayer service been held on Saturday in their honor.

“The outpouring from the boating community, family and friends, their entire church, everything has been overwhelmingly an outpour of emotion, of support and love and care,” Buro told CNN.

In an earlier news release, the Salty Dawg Sailing Association paid tribute to the missing sailors.

“Kathy Brandel and Ralph Hendry are veteran cruisers and long-time members of the Salty Dawg Sailing Association from its earliest days. Warm hearted and capable, they both contributed to building the SDSA and Kathy sat on the association’s board for two years,” the release said.

The club shared a statement from Brandel’s and Hendry’s family.

“We want to reach out to the entire cruiser community to express our gratitude for everyone that worked to gather information from eyewitnesses and provide search and rescue support. It means so much to us that so many people cared for Ralph and Kathy as friends and fellow cruisers that they are willing to stop and help in whatever way possible,” Nick Buro and Hendry’s son, Bryan Hendry, said in the statement.

The family also called on other sailors and anyone not affiliated with the official investigation to stand down in their searches and thanked the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force and Coast Guard for their investigations.

“The only way we feel this situation could be worse would be if anyone was hurt or endangered trying to conduct searches,” the statement read.

GoFundMe campaign has been established on behalf of Nick Buro to help fund the recovery of the yacht and the couple’s belongings, funeral costs and support.

According to the Salty Dawg Sailing Association, a passing “good Samaritan” contacted it on February 21 after finding Simplicity anchored and abandoned off the south coast of St. Vincent.

“The good Samaritan had boarded the boat and noted that the owners, Ralph Hendry and Kathy Brandel, were not onboard and found evidence of apparent violence,” it said. They found contact details for the club and also contacted the Coast Guard, who notified St. Vincent police, the association said.

Wednesday, the day the boat was found, was Kathy’s 71st birthday according to Buro. Saturday, March 2, will be Ralph’s 67th birthday, his son Bryan Hendry told CNN.

“We’re extremely thankful for the efforts of the St. Vincent and Grenadines, and the Grenada authorities including each of those countries’ police departments and coast guards for coordinating in this investigation and quickly apprehending these dangerous subjects and recovering Simplicity and getting it to safety as quickly as they did. They have been very hospitable to us and helpful,” Hendry said.

Bob Osborn, the club’s president, offered condolences to the families and said the violence was unheard of.

“This is a very upsetting event and details are still unconfirmed by the authorities, but this does appear to be a tragic event – our hopes and prayers are with Ralph and Kathy and the family who love them,” Osborn said in a statement. “I have spoken to the families and have offered our deepest condolences and our assistance in any way possible. In all my years of cruising the Caribbean, I have never heard of anything like this.”

In a statement on Friday, the US State Department said it is “aware of these reports involving US citizens. We are monitoring the situation and seeking additional information.”

On Saturday, Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force Superintendent Junior O. Simmons told CNN the suspects are cooperating with the investigation and more information would be released.

CNN’s Jillian Sykes, Abel Alvarado and Aaron Eggleston contributed to this report.

At the scene, flames could be seen coming from the structure’s roof. Due to the possibility of a roof collapse, crews doused the home with water from outside.

Crews from Celoron, Lakewood, Jamestown, Falconer, Busti, Ashville, Bemus Point, Kiantone, and Panama responded. The Ellicott Police Department and Chautauqua County EMS assisted at the scene as well.

Meghan Markle's ex-BFF Jessica Mulroney back on the social scene after being 'shamed' for her 'white privilege' - New York Post

Jessica Mulroney is back on Canada’s social scene following her fallout with ex-best friend Meghan Markle.

The Duchess of Sussex, 42, purportedly froze out the Canadian stylist, 43, after she was accused of exhibiting “white privilege” back in 2020 amid widespread Black Lives Matter marches.

The scandal is said to have caused a rift between the pals, who had been close since 2011.

Mulroney subsequently spent several years out of the spotlight, but has begun to more reassert herself more publicly in recent months.

The brunette beauty — whose father-in-law is former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney —has shared a snap to her Instagram account this week showing her at a dress fitting ahead of a glamorous event.

Markle and Mulroney became friends in 2011. They are pictured in 2015. WireImage

Meanwhile, last November, ,Mulroney attended a fundraising bash for a The Shoebox Project for Shelters — a charity she co-founded with her sisters-in-law Caroline, Katy, and Vanessa in 2011.

The organization helps at-risk women and homeless citizens in Canada.

While Mulroney exited the charity in 2020, she brought along her daughter, Ivy, to the glitzy event proving she’s stepping back into the spotlight.

She posted a photo from the gala at the time, writing: “The new generation of @shoeboxproject. Ivy is taking over. Every year I am in awe of your generosity and support. What a night raising over 25k for women impacted by homelessness.”

Mulroney was also involved with the 2023 Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards (CAFA).

Last October, she applauded designers who showcased their work that year.

“Tonight the @cafawards celebrates our very own designers. There is so much talent in this country and I thank you for always making me feel beautiful in your designs. Good luck tonight. Despite everything going on in the world, it is still important to celebrate our own,” she gushed over the organization on social media.

Meanwhile, publicist Vince Ciarlo gave some insight to the Daily Mail recently about how Mulroney should be “back on the scene” after her friendship breakup with Meghan.

“Enough time has passed, and the world has changed since she was shamed. Like a true professional, she followed the playbook on the ‘Art of the Apology,'” he added.

“Art of the Apology” is a book by Lauren M. Bloom that examines how delivering a successful apology isn’t easy.

“She apologized, kept out of the limelight and rebuilt her brand and reputation and now deserves the respect and attention to share her expertise on creativity,” Ciarlo said.

Mulroney was embroiled in a scandal after black Toronto-based influencer Sasha Exeter shared a clip in 2020 accusing the fashionista of exhibiting “white privilege.”

Despite the mother of three apologizing to Exeter, she was fired from her contracts with Hudson’s Bay, ABC, Cityline and CTV. She often did TV appearances for those bands regarding her fashion and style expertise.

'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Live-Action Changes to "Secret Tunnel" Scene - Cosmopolitan

Changes are definitely to be expected when anything gets adapted, but fans of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series were surprised to see a major changed that had more to do with a special season 2 episode that somehow made an appearance in the live-action's first season. And while it was a big nod to a fan-favorite moment, it did come as a major surprise for those who have already tuned into the show's fourth episode.

Here's everything you need to know about that Secret Tunnel moment in the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender season 1.

Wait, the Secret Tunnel scene?!

Yeah...about that...

So remember how in season 2 of the animated series, we find the really cool hippies who introduce the story about the secret tunnel. Well, they decided to add that scene into the live-action adaptation's first season instead. Now you might be thinking, "But wait, doesn't that help them get to the big moment in Omashu?" The answer is yes, but in a totally different way this time.

How is it different this time?

Well, firstly, it is now happening in season 1. And while the legend of The Cave of Two Lovers remains the same, instead of Katara and Aang's relationship having a big moment because of it, it actually ends up involving Katara and Sokka more instead...which does seem weird, but let us explain!

First, while the story remains the same, their destination is different. The tunnels in the animated series would've led Team Avatar to Omashu. In the live-action, they're still in Omashu and use it to try to find Aang who was taken prisoner. Sokka and Katara manage to find the group right before they go deep into the tunnels who tells them the story about The Cave of Two Lovers and how to find their way out to find Aang. And obviously there's a little sing-along that happens too!

While the story remains the same, it also aligns more with Season 1, Episode 11, "The Great Divide," where Sokka and Katara fight with one another and Aang attempts to bring them together.

As they drift into the cave, instead of Katara and Aang trying more romantic things like kissing to figure out the secret of the cave, Katara and Sokka obviously don't do that. Instead, their sibling love for each other is the thing that saves them from the badgermole that is trying to attack them, noting that they respond to feelings and that love is what calms them.

The badgermole helps them find their way out and also find Aang who is fighting King Bumi at the time.

How does this change things for season 2?

It looks like the gaang will have to find another way to journey to Omashu since the tunnels seem to start and end within the city. In the animated series, the tunnels lead right outside Omashu where they see that it's been taken over by the Fire Nation (as also evident in the live-action's finale).

It might be a small change, but for hard-core fans, it is a bit of a confusing one since they'll need an alternative way to get to the city without getting caught...

Guess we'll have to hope for a second season to see!

The Biggest Culture Shocks About Moving to Cleveland - Cleveland Scene

Whether you've arrived from New York City or a rural Indiana town, whether you've come from the sun down south or from somewhere that makes you shocked at Cleveland summers, this town can surprise transplants. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad. But certain things are immediately noticeable when you move to Clevleand.

Everyone Wears Cleveland T-Shirts As a travel writer for the Daily Mail noticed years ago, it’s slightly bizarre to arrive in a city where the locals all seem to be wearing hometown gear at all times. ”In most parts of the world, if you were to wear a T-shirt bearing the name of a city, it would mark you out as a tourist. In Cleveland, things are different – if you’re NOT wearing a T-shirt with the name of the city on it you look like a tourist,” they wrote. “Whether it’s one of the sports teams or just the famous city script, Cleveland T-shirts are everywhere you look. Moms on the school run, construction guys on their way to work, waitresses at the neighbourhood diner – they’re all proud to wear their heart on their sleeve and Cleveland on their shirt.” No lie detected.

We’re Pretty Apathetic About Government With a full roster of scandals and bad elected leaders in our backpockets, the outsider would expect Cleveland’s citizenry to be involved and engaged. That outsider will be disappointed, as Cleveland’s voting records have historically declined, leaving few to make the biggest decisions on what happens in Northeast Ohio.

Anything Longer Than a 20 Minute Drive Feels Like Forever It doesn’t take long for someone used to insane commutes to sigh with relief that there’s basically no traffic in Cleveland, a blissful city where rush hour doesn’t seem to exist. Of course, it doesn’t take long after that to adopt a new mindset: Something that’s more than 20 minutes away is pretty far and the travel time worthy of a polite cancellation.

Everything Is Centered Around Alcohol Baby shower? Intramural flag football game? Workday lunch? Early-morning EPL soccer? Middle-school chess match? Clevelanders got you covered if what you're looking for is booze to go with any of those delightful events. It's at the top of the city's food and social pyramid.

We Have the Civic Infrastructure of a Much Larger City Three professional sports teams, a world-class orchestra, a world-class art museum, a natural history museum, the Rock Hall, the botanical garden, legacy arts organizations, Playhouse Square. These are the offerings you find in a city with twice or even three times the population of Cleveland. Thankfully, we did all this before everyone left town. Which means all the benefits of a big city while enjoying less waiting and less traffic to enjoy it.

What’s With All the Clam Bakes? You’d be forgiven for thinking you were in the middle of New England in the fall, what with clam bakes dominating the culinary conversation. Bill Gullo, director of purchasing at Catanese Classic Seafood in the Flats, once told us. "I had a clam supplier tell me a couple years back that more clams were being shipped to Northeast Ohio during September and October than the rest of the country combined. I would think that that was still true today." How’d we come to love clam bakes so much? Good question.

We’ll Go to Any Festival According to a recent study, Ohio is the second-most festival-obsessed state in America, and judging by the crowds from spring to fall, that checks out. What, you didn’t have a choice of five festivals every weekend where you came from? Whether it’s bacon, pickles, corn, garlic, art, beer, twins, skunks or even testicles–yes, testicles–we can’t seem to get enough of festivals. Give us a crowd of people, a loose theme, some/a lot of alcohol, lines of people, and we're in heaven.

We Go Into Prepper Mode in Advance of Snow You would think for an area with intimate knowledge and experience with winter weather, we’d be less skittish that any measly amount of snow cover would shut down the area long enough that before a flake falls we’re stocking up at Giant Eagles like we’re preparing for the apocalypse. But no.
